I was never meant to get pregnant

I was never meant to get pregnant

Priyanka Chopra has been shooting nights for Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion. And no, it isn't because they needed to rework the script.

"I don't know where these stories come from. Apparently I asked Madhur to change the climax of the plot so that my character doesn't get pregnant.

Now where did that come from?Madhur is a very competent director. Do you think he'd allow any actor to tamper with the script? Yes, the two of us sat down on the script and threshed it out over 6-7 months.

Once that was done, we went by the script completely. I'd be the last person to ask for changes once I begin shooting. "

As for her character getting pregnant Priyanka laughs, "That was never in the script. The ending was decided at the scripting stage. The girl was never meant to get pregnant.

Why would I shy away from doing something unconventional? I started with Aitraaz which was as unconventional as they come. I'm so amused by all the speculation about Fashion.

Just shows how much interest the film is generating. In spite of the constant attention we've shot a majority of the film. We're all working really hard on it. "

As for the film being inspired by the lives of real- life ramp -walkers Priyanka clears the air. " Fashion is a work of fiction.

It's not meant to be a khulasa (frankspeak) on the modeling world. Basically it's the story of this one girl's biographical journey, just like Tabu in Madhur's Chandni Bar or Bipasha in Corporate.

The fashion world is my character's backdrop. My character could very well have been a part of the any other profession. "

Priyanka admits she has never been more nervous about any of her films. "It's a very nerve-wracking character and I hope I'm able to live up to people's expectations. "

Priyanka has to cram in as much of the shooting as possible for Fashion before she rushes off in March to Miami for Karan Johar's Dostana directed by Tarun Mansukhani.

"That would be a welcome sunny seaside change after shooting the intense scenes indoors on a set for Fashion. It's a young peppy frothy film. Totally different from Fashion. "

“Last week my parents had a house-warming party for their friends. Since I had no time, I refrained from inviting any of my friends. Isn’t that sad? We had to postpone our shift several times. Priyanka needs time to move into dream home

Mumbai, (IANS) Priyanka Chopra's dream home is ready and the actress is delighted. But she hasn't moved in yet and will do so when she has the time to do it up herself.

"I'll have my house-warming party and move to my new place only when I return from Miami in July. My parents have shifted though, leaving me by myself in our old place," she grumbled good-naturedly.

"Last week my parents had a house-warming party for their friends. Since I had no time, I refrained from inviting any of my friends. Isn't that sad? We had to postpone our shift several times. We were supposed to move in last Diwali, but the interiors had to be completed," the actress told IANS.

Priyanka is house-proud. "It's such a feeling to own a home that I've watched come up brick by brick. Full marks to Suzanne Roshan for making my dream home a reality. I think her aesthetics are very close to mine. My parents' apartment and mine are adjacent (as they were in our earlier residence) and are so beautifully done. Both have been done up differently."

Since Priyanka is shooting non-stop to complete Madhur Bhandarkar's "Fashion" before rushing off to complete "Dostana", she can't pack beyond the stuff she'll need for her trip to Miami.

"But my mom is packing my belongings that I've accumulated over the years. I wish I had more time to enjoy this important move in my life. But I am free only in July after I finish shooting 'Fashion' and Karan Johar's 'Dostana'. After that, no more assignments for the time being and only then will I get some time to move in and enjoy my new home.

"Until then, I'll be happy watching my parents enjoy our new home. Their happiness means more to me than my own," she said.

Priyanka patches up with Salman

Priyanka patches up with Salman

If sources are to be believed Priyanka Chopra will be part of Anil Sharma’s forthcoming film Veer . Interestingly Salman Khan who shared cold vibes with Priyanka will be seen together once again as lead pair after their last release film Salam-E-Ishq .

According to our source Slaman, who was miffed with Priyanka had decided not to work with her after Salam-E –Ishaq . But Priyanka who wanted a reconciliation with Salman, tried hard. Reportedly she also wanted to be part of Sohail Khan’s Mr And Mrs Khanna but Salman who didn’t wish to work with her, selected Kareena Kapoor for it.

Apparently Priyanka who started her career with Anil Sharma’s Hero always wanted to be a part of his films. It is believed that when she heard the story of Veer , she expressed her desire to be part of it.

However she had a meeting with director Anil Sharma who has agreed to take her in lead. A source reveals that “Priyanka met Salman last week at his Galaxy apartment to solve the problems between them. However, Salman who is known to be big hearted man has agreed to work with her. Priyanka will be doing the female lead in the film.”

When we quizzed Anil Sharma he said, “I haven’t signed her yet but Priyanka is family so whenever we want she will be part of our project. I am still working on the script. As of now I can say that Salman will be seen in main lead but we are yet to decide about the leading lady.”

Veer ’s story has been written by Salman Khan. Anil Sharma’s inhouse writer Shaktiman is writing its script. He further adds that Veer is a period drama set in the year 1852 to 1900. “ Veer will be Salman’s first period film, where he will be sporting a complete different look. I have told him to lose weight thus he is working on his body to get a specific look that is required for his character.”

Priyanka in ugly fight with Kangana

Priyanka in ugly fight with Kangana

Madhur Bandakar's Fashion seems to be running into all sort of trouble. We hear that there has been a huge showdown between the leading ladies Priyanka and Kangana Ranaut on the sets just a few days back.

There were also rumours that Priyanka has even had the climax of the film changed.

However, Priyanka said that they have not changed the climax but they just discussed about it. While, the director said that a climax of a movie is open for change.

Actually Priyanka has been working really hard for the film. She has lost a lot of weight to resemble an anorexic model however she was not very comfortable with the original end of the film.

In the originalinal script, Priyanka sleeps around with several men but remains unperturbed even after she gets pregnant. Priyanka was not willing to play this part as it may hurt her image so she coerced director to give into her demands and finally change the climax of the film.

Madhur who is known to make no compromises on any aspect has however has decided to relent to his actress's demands this time round.

According to insiders Priyanka threw such a fit that Madhur was left with little choice but to give in to her demands.

"Madhur was put under extreme pressure by Priyanka. Initially, Madhur had slated Kareena or Bipasha to play the lead role but eventually settled for Priyanka because he felt she would do justice to the character and look what she has done," said a source.

Recently filmmaker Tarun Mansukhani too was at the receiving end from Priyanka. The sultry star put a spanner in the works when she refused to wear a bikini for his forthcoming movie Dostana.

Tarun claims that he had already informed the actress that she had to work out and be in shape for a bikini scene in the movie.

Priyanka shoots non-stop for 21 hours!

Priyanka shoots non-stop for 21 hours!

Meanwhile, Piggy Chopra we hear created a new world record of sorts by shooting non-stop for 21 hours for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion.

We hear that before flying off for Tarun Mansukhani’s film Dostana in Miami, she shot non-stop for Madhur’s Fashion and completed a major portion of it. “We started the shot at 5 am and it went on till the next morning, non-stop, everyone was exhausted but Priyanka was extremely professional, she didn’t complain or throw tantrums even once,” says a unit member.

Madhur too confirms the news and says, “Yes, Priyanka was very professional. When she saw that I was not well and inspite of that I was on the sets, 24*7, she just gave in,” he laughs. Let’s hope the Guinness world record guys are reading this!

Three beauty queens as desi Charlie's Angels

Three beauty queens as desi Charlie's Angels

Three top actresses of Bollywood will be kicking butts and punching bellies in a power-packed action flick on the lines of Hollywood’s ‘Charlie’s Angels’.

It is a subject that hasn’t been yet tried in an industry where heroines are reserved only to romance heroes, run around the trees, simper, and strut their stuff. For a change – and a welcoming one at that – the heroines are set to thrash the baddies in an action chick flick to be produced by Abbas-Mastan .

Tinsel town is abuzz with talks that the brothers in white have roped in Rohit Jugraj to direct the film. Rohit made a forgettable directorial debut with James but showed remarkable growth as a filmmaker in his second flick Superstar , released just two weeks back.

And now, Rohit and Abbas-Mustan are looking forward to sign Priyanka Chopra , Lara Dutta and Sushmita Sen (all three of them former beauty queens) to play the three leading roles of spunky, butt-kicking girls in the film.

Rohit also admits that the movie will be styled like Charlie’s Angels, but he also adds in the same breath that his film will delve deeper into the psyche of the protagonists.

About the film’s cast, Rohit refuses to confirm any names but says he is confident of the influence of Abbas-Mustan in the film industry to get him a stellar star-cast of his choice.

If things turn out as expected, this yet untitled film will be the first full-fledged action flick in Bollywood with girls in lead roles. The actresses might have to undergo training in martial arts and parkour before shooting the film.

Do it my way! Priyanka

Do it my way! Priyanka

Till now, we have only heard of actors like Aamir and Akshay demanding changes in their film’s storyline.

And now, Priyanka Chopra has supposedly joined this group. Priyanka ‘forced’ director Madhur Bhandarkar to change Fashion’s climax, according to the buzz. An insider says, "Madhur had approached Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor for the role but things didn’t work out. He finally decided to sign Priyanka. However, he had to relook at the script from her perspective as she was not comfortable with the ending."

So what changes did Priyanka demand? Our source reveals, "The original end of the film had Priyanka becoming pregnant. The script had the actress playing a girl who has many men in her life and is unperturbed about her pregnancy. However, Priyanka found that idea too bold and told Madhur that it might go against her image."

However, sources close to Madhur say there is no truth in this. "Already six drafts of the script have been changed by Madhur and he is yet to finalise the climax. So, the question of the climax being changed at this stage does not arise." The source goes on to add that Madhur never goes by the big names but instead focuses on the story. "Even in Page 3, Kareena was replaced by Konkona and the film went on to become such a hit."

Madhur denies rumours!

Madhur denies rumours!

Fashion has been hitting headlines even before it started being filmed.

Initially, the rumours were about how director Madhur Bhandarkar wanted to chronicle former model Gitanjali Nagpal’s life, followed by stories that Carol Gracias’ wardrobe malfunction would feature in the film.

Even the film’s cast was much discussed as reports said that Madhur was keen on signing Kareena for the lead. Then the film made news again when Madhur was on the lookout for a male actor who’d play a character with homosexual shades.

And now has come the stir about Priyanka Chopra wanting to change the climax. According to rumours, her character in the film is that of an unmarried model who gets pregnant and is unfazed by the fact. Apparently, Priyanka thought the character ‘too bold’.

When BT contacted Madhur, he was exasperated by the reports. "I don’t want to comment on this issue. I’ve been flooded with calls from newspapers since this morning and I have declined to speak to them. So many stories about Fashion come up everyday, so I’ve stopped bothering to respond," he said.
But when BT pressed on about Priyanka wanting a change in the climax, he said, "It’s all rubbish."

Priyanka Chopra: No Bikini For Me

Priyanka Chopra: No Bikini For Me

She has not lost weight to play a ramp model in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion. But, yes, the gorgeous actress has worked on herself to use her sexy body to advantage in that film and also Karan Johar’s next. "I always work on my character. That’s why I do one film at a time," she said. "For Fashion, I didn’t drop kilos, but I toned my body through diet. I can’t cut down on food."

Karan, it is said, is ready to capture the superfit Priyanka on the beaches of Miami with the likes of Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in his film. "Imagine two months in the sun and sand," said Priyanka in a dreamy voice. "But, I don’t get into a bikini for Karan."

Getting into shape, Priyanka revealed, isn’t about becoming thin. "It’s about toning your body. I do not endorse anorexic figures. I don’t think you need to be reed-thin to be beautiful. Indian women look terrible when they try to get anorexic. We are naturally healthy. And by that I don’t mean voluptuous! But yes, we’ve been given a certain kind of figure. We’re well-proportioned and aesthetically endowed in all the right places. And by getting exceptionally thin we’re going against Nature."

When lovers sweat it out together!

When lovers sweat it out together!

Working out in gym is the latest trend in Bollywood. And all the toil becomes fun when one’s girlfriend or boyfriend happens to be alongside.

Far gone are the days when pot-bellied heroes or overweight heroines could be cine icons. Today, you ought to have a hot, chiseled-out body to stay in competition. Not just men, even ladies need to slog with dumb bells and weights to keep fit. And the sight of two lovers working out together is not uncommon.

We know how Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan worked out together after completing the shooting of Guru to slim down for their respective roles in Dhoom 2 .

Bipasha Basu is also known to give company to her beau John Abraham at Mumbai’s Gold’s Gym in Andheri, Mumbai. Though they have different trainers, Bips and John often discuss their workout routines with each other.

At occasions, Malaika Arora has also been spotted toiling on the treadmill alongside her hubby Arbaaz Khan .

And now, we hear that Priyanka Chopra is working out with her boyfriend Harman Baweja at Gold’s Gym. Priyanka has been trying to shed her weight for Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Fashion in which she plays a supermodel. On the other hand, Harman is developing his brawns for his role of a cricketer in the film Victory .

Whenever the couple is not shooting, they are spotted doing different exercises under the guidance of experts. Harman, who happens to be a regular, is often seen giving tips to Priyanka.

Speaking of fitness, how can we forget the present most-talked-about couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor . We have learnt that Bebo has introduced her beau to Yoga. And Saif, who has become a sort of fitness freak since his hospitalization last year, has no qualms learning breathing exercises and different yogic postures from his ladylov

Priyanka's fighting a losing battle

Priyanka's fighting a losing battle

Priyanka Chopra is fighting the battle of bulge these these days. The actress has beencast in Madhur Bhandarkar's next fashion and need to shed at least 8 kilograms to look like a real model.

She weighed about 54 kg when she signed the film and only managed to lose 4 kg till date. Considering that Priyanka’s co-stars in the film – Kangana Ranaut and Mugdha Godse – are so thin Priyanka has been told to get in shape to not look odd with her co-stars.

So the actress has been working out religiously been toiling on treadmills and following a strict diet.

Rita Dhody, who is Priyanka’s stylist in Fashion says, “Priyanka is working out and dieting and has already lost 4 kg in six weeks. I think she is looking fine. At the rate she is shedding weight, she should lose about 1.5 to 2 kg in the next two weeks.

One needs to understand that all models can’t be anorexic. Priyanka has a different bone structure and a very well-defined feminine body. Priyanka is not stick thin. And in the fashion industry, no matter how much weight one loses it’s never enough.”

Fashion is produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and UTV.

Priyanka Chopra denies differences with Kangana Ranaut

Priyanka Chopra denies differences with Kangana Ranaut

Priyanka Chopra has denied that she has any differences with Kangana Ranaut who co-stars with her in Madhur Bhandarkar 's forthcoming Fashion .

"Please stop thinking of us as rivals at each other's throats. I worked with Kareena Kapoor and Lara Dutta in my two earliest films. We worked without any kind of tension. Now I hear I'm at loggerheads with Kangana while shooting for Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Fashion'. That I'm feeling threatened by her presence, when in fact we get along famously," Priyanka told a news agency.

"Kangana and I share a lot in common. Like me she's an outsider who has been wholeheartedly embraced and adopted by Mumbai. Besides we've our individual space in 'Fashion'. So this reported friction is again fiction," Priyanka added.

Apart from 'Fashion', Priyanka will also be seen in Drona and Love Story 2050 this year.
Priyanka added that Bollywood needs to set a secular example for the rest of the country.
Priyanka, who has carved a niche for herself, feels that every actor needs to create an awareness around themselves that takes them beyond the role of an entertainer.

"I love this country. I don't want to be accused of sounding preachy when I praise my country. I'm extremely proud of being an Indian. I cling to my culture and roots with extreme passion," Priyanka said.

"People may find it funny and fake, but I'm vocally possessive and protective about our image abroad. That comes from my days when I was Miss World and I represented my country in so many ways. Today, that habit remains with me. I feel if somewhere in your heart you carry a pride for your country, it will show," Priyanka added.
