Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is to star alongside Hollywood actor Steve Martin in the upcoming sequel to the 2006 movie "The Pink Panther", a newspaper reported on Friday.

Pink Panther 2: Shilpa Vs Ash

'Pink Panther 2' casting has now become the hotly debated issue in Bollywood. Contrary to latest media reports, Aishwarya’s international agent Simone Sheffield says, "Ms Rai was the first and only choice to play Sophie in the Hollywood film Pink Panther 2."

The casting director Ilene Starger too endorses this fact by saying, "We did not offer the role to anyone other than Aishwarya. Period. Ash was the actress I envisioned when I read the script. Her intelligence, beauty and sophistication are just what the role requires. She fits in wonderfully with our fantastic ensemble cast, and all of us are thrilled to work with her.”

Akshay Kumar: Bollywood Film Heyy Babyy

Funny man Sajid Khan has been spoofing films regularly on television, but when it was his turn, he wasn't able to skip the cliches of Hindi films. Sajid made a career out of laughing aloud at DVD adaptations of popular Hollywood cinema, but when he made a film he did just that - Indianise and adapt Hollywood winner Three Men And A Baby!
The story is predictable to the end. Arush (Akshay), Al(Fardeen) and Tanmay(Riteish) are forced to take into their custody a baby left at their door-step saying, "Look after your baby, you @#$!" From baby food, soiled nappies flying about the place and a bawling infant, Sajid infuses bawdy humour with scenes where Arush goes to pick up baby-food and seeks instructions from a young mother who cautions him to boil the nipple before feeding the baby and Arush appears all bewildered as he massages his nipples!

Bollywood News: The 'Big' crossover

It's the most obvious route. Small screen's brightest stars are seldom content with their soapy success and often want to explore opportunities on 35 mm. Television is seen as a detour to films.
Even though television's successful imports to Bollywood - Aman Verma, Amarr Upadhay , Anita Hassanandani, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, Arif Zakaria, Mandira Bedi - et al haven't really found filmi glory yet, that hasn't prevented a new bunch of stars to think Bollywood. Mona Singh, for example , is training to get into an hour-glass shape and is brushing up her Hindi for a career in films.

Bollywood News: Bollywood's the best

Until recently, India's only export to Hollywood was Aishwarya Rai. Today, Hollywood's calling even smaller names like Koena Mitra, Celina Jaitley and Randeep Hooda to give their films an Indian twist.

But the charm of the west has waned considerably in the last few years for most desi stars. And it's not just the biggies like Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan; even Celina Jaitley has said no to Hollywood.

Bollywood : Box office analysis

After a flurry of entertaining films in weeks gone by, last Friday turned out to be pretty inconsequential last for Bollywood. To get it straight, the opening of MARIGOLD could well be on par with one of Salman's recent dud SHAADI KARKE PHAS GAYA YAAR! And that's one terrible comparison since while SKPGY opened to pathetic numbers due to it's release after being 6 years in the making, MARIGOLD didn't fare well either in spite of being touted as Salman's Hollywood project.

What could be the reason behind near to negligible opening collections for the film? A) It's thanda promotion. B) Zero hype about the film's theme C) Below average music. D) Unimpressive publicity material. E) Last but not the least, it's dated feel. There was hardly any attempt by the makers to showcase it as a fresh project.

Bollywood is in dire need of a number of super hits during the current year. The current year so far has had a good number of small and big films, but unfortunately most of them have miserably failed to hit the box office. In fact, big films have proved disasters so far. Only last month (July) a Salman-Govinda partnership movie of David Dhawan titled 'Partner' did hit the screen and attracted a large crowd but didn't fare too well at the box office. The similar fate met with Maniratnam's 'Guru', Vipul Shah's 'Namastey London' and 'Apne' (starring the Deo family).

Bollywood Film "Marigold" : Song and Dance

A B-grade Hollywood actress meets a Bollywood choreographer and sparks fly. Or rather, sparks are meant to fly but alas, they don't. Touted as Salman Khan's ticket to Hollywood, Marigold is a huge disappointment.

Khan (shirt intact this time) plays the quintessential good guy, and it's an uncomplicated role which does not require him to exert himself in the least. All he has to do is dance a bit and smile a lot. Khan as a dancer/choreographer is also a stretch (even though he is energetic his dancing is no great shakes) but to his credit he does make a valiant attempt in the song sequences. American fashion model turned actress Ali Larter (best known for her popular television series Heroes) has a meatier role and delivers a spunky and likeable performance.

I hate the term Bollywood, Big B tells New York

Amitabh Bachchan was at his patriotic best at a press conference in New York ahead of 'Bachchan Sandhya' - an event which pays tribute to his father, poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. And the Big B took the opportunity to wax eloquent about Indian culture and traditions.

"I think that what is missing in Western culture is traditions. In our culture it dictates almost every younger generation to look after the older generation. These are some of the values and many, many more values that I learned from my father, it would take a very long time to describe them," said Bachchan.

Rocking ‘Threesomes’ of Bollywood!

An ode to RD Burman, this film starring Rahul Bose, Sanjay Suri and Shayan Munshi worked because of its realistic depiction of three friends wanting to make it big in the music world while they overcome and dodge the challenges that life throws at them.

The film was a slapstick comedy and worked well with the urban audiences. The music was a hit too.

Bollywood Film : Music Review of Marigold

Bollywood's bad boy Salman Khan's first crossover cinematic endeavor finally makes its mark and comes sparkling all the way in Willard Carroll's romantic saga 'Marigold'. After decades of successful film career, Salman ventures into foreign production house and the story revolves around the struggle of a foreign actress played by actress Ali Larter in Bollywood. Salman plays lead opposite her as he helps her way out in the film world and finally winning her heart out. Nandana Sen, Vikas Bhalla, Kiran Juneja and foreign actor Ian Bohen play important character roles. 'Marigold' has been shot exclusively on the exotic locations of Goa and the film is poised to be an engrossing love triangle. Shankar Ehsaan Loy delivers a cross culture feel in their versatile musical work. American R n B singer "Truth Hurts" plays the pivotal role in the album as she sings melodiously significant soundtracks of the film. Javed Akhtar's poetic abilities make this album a pleasant affair and it could be felt in its mesmerizing soundtracks. The original soundtracks of 'Marigold' can be heard on Big music cassettes and CD's. more

Bollywood film Marigold : New Releases

Willard Carroll parlays a slender thread of an idea into a movie being touted as Salman Khan’s Hollywood debut. So what we get is this: Salman playing second fiddle to the obnoxious Bollywood hero on the sets (he’s just the choreographer) and holding out a caring shoulder for Marigold to cry on when she finds the going too tough. Ooh, that must have been tough for him.

Rahul Rawail to make a film on Gujarat riots

The verdict on Rahul Rawail's black comedy Buddha Mar Gaya released this week is rather discouraging. "I'm not making any apologies about the raunchy mood of the film,” Rahul says a day after the film's release. "It was meant to be a sex comedy, and it is exactly that. Why are we so squeamish about sexual innuendoes in our films when we have no objection to sex jokes in the American Pie movies? I enjoy watching American Pie and wanted to do something similar in Hindi. And that's exactly what I've done.

Film Review: Marigold

Insipid, clichéd and tiredly pretentious, these words best fit this much touted ‘Salman Khan’s first Hollywood film.’ There may be many other words that describe the film but they are best avoided as most would be expletives.

Yes, the movie is that bad. Not only is the screenplay watery, the acting, casting, dialogues, music and costumes all make you wonder if the makers were planning to make the movie run on hype and publicity alone? But for the sake of the art that cinema is considered; let us give these aspects and the movie a deeper look.

When Holly met Bolly?

AN INDIAN WOMAN IN A FLOW-ing beaded gown glides through a pond. A mosquito net brushes over her lover. And to insistent drumbeats of the Indian heartland, a dancing phalanx of tunic-clad women twirls. These images appear in the trailer of a forthcoming movie, Saawariya. The melodrama, whose Hindi title means "beloved", has an Indian director and cast. Its characters speak Hindi and burst into eight song-and-dance numbers. It is, in other words, vintage Bollywood - but for one thing. It comes to you courtesy of Hollywood.
