Saif, Madhuri part of the Bachchan concert

Saif, Madhuri part of the Bachchan concert

The "Unforgettable" concerts in July that will see the Bachchan clan of Bollywood perform live across Europe and United States have new glamour quotient.

Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit (Nene) will join Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai at different venues across Britain and the US, a source close to the family said.

Riteish Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu and Akshay Kumar are also part of the entourage.

"Saif and Shahid showed absolutely no hesitation in joining the Bachchans on their tour. The price being offered was fine and the dates for venues where they'll perform also worked out to their convenience. As for Madhuri, it would be the easiest thing in the world to join the Bachchans for the concerts in the US because that's where she lives," the source said.

Lara Dutta had opted out of the concert earlier. "There's much more to

Big B unveils Bhootnath

Big B unveils Bhootnath

After romancing young heroines the whole of last year, now it’s Amitabh Bachchan’s turn to be seen as a ghost in Ravi Chopra’s forthcoming Bhootnath. The top star made sure to be present, as the first look of the film was unveiled at Cinemax, Versova, on Saturday. Through the whole of the evening, Bachchan decided to give company to the child artist, Aman Siddqui. In the film, Bachchan will be seen as the ghost of the boy’s grandfather. The young boy too seemed to have grown very fond of his onscreen grandfather, and the duo stuck together. The otherwise reclusive Juhi Chawla, the boy’s onscreen mother, too dropped in and completed the family portrait.

Bummer: Bachchan’s look in the Bhootnath brought back memories of his infamous avatar in RGV’s Aag.

Bachchan and Rekha back !!!

Bachchan and Rekha back !!!

There’s good news for Amitabh-Rekha fans. Yes those who love to watch this one time hot couple onscreen will see them once again together in a film. It may sound unbelievable rather untrue, but yes Amitabh and Rekha will be seen in Sujoy Ghosh’s next.

According to his unit hand of Alladin , Sujoy had several meetings with Rekha whom he feels he has a great role to offer. And yes Rekha has signed on the dotted line and will be seen in a prominent role. Her character’s name is Marjina. It is believed that the same role was earlier offered to Ratna Shah Pathak, but Sujoy thought Rekha would be the suitable lady to play this role

When we quizzed Sujoy, he however denied the news saying “No it’s not true.” However his unit hand insists that Rekha will be shooting from next month and also will be sharing screen space with her lost love. Our source adds “Both Amitabh and Rekha are quite professional. They have some scenes together.”

It can be recalled that Amitabh and Rekha were last seen in Yash Chopra’s Silsila . It is believed after Silsila many filmmakers expressed their desire to cast them in a film. But post their alleged break up Amitabh and Rekha refused to do films together. So one can understand how tough it would have been for Sujoy to bring them back in Alladin .

Apparently Bachchan is playing the genie in the film. While Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Dutt, Saahil Khan and newcomer Jacqueline fernandez will be seen in prominent roles.

Big B to play Abhishek's grandpa

Big B to play Abhishek's grandpa

Amitabh Bachchan will be seen playing Abhishek Bachchan’s grandfather in director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s film Dilli 6 .

Abhishek Bachchan may not have liked the idea of playing the younger Big B in Shoojit Sircar’s in-the-making film ‘Shoebite’, but the senior Bachchan has happily agreed to act in Mehra’s semi-autobiographical flick starring Abhishek and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles.

The film has Amitabh and Waheeda Rahman playing grandparents of the character played by Abhishek.

Big B and Waheeda ji have worked together in a number of films in the 70s and 80s, and ‘Dilli 6’ marks their coming together after a long gap of about 25 years.

Mehra, who is extremely fond of Waheeda ji (she was also part of his Rang De Basanti ), reportedly wanted her only to play the role of Abhi’s grandma.

Reports say that the two senior actors have already shot a few portions of the film in Rajasthan.

Big B to star in Bhoothnath sequel?

Big B to star in Bhoothnath sequel?

IndiaFM

Even before Vivek Sharma's Bhoothnath releases, the buzz about its sequel is already doing rounds. On Javed Akhtar's recommendation, he planned to make a sequel to Bhoothnath. And now, Vivek is engrossed in the scripting process of Bhoothnath 2 (tentative title), which will star Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role.

Excited about the fact that he will work again with Big B, Vivek informs, "Javed saab suggested me to add one scene at the climax, which would give a hint for its sequel." He goes on to add, "The sequel will have a very international look with lot of magic, animation, and real action. The film will be made on the lines of international films like The Matrix, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter etc."

When asked about the rumors of the change in the climax scene of the film, he clears, "There is no change in the climax and as far as the ending of the film is concerned, let the audiences come and discover if it's cheerful or sad."

Talking about the promotional strategy for Bhoothnath, he says, "We are coming up with innovative strategies starting with the unveiling of Big B's look in the film on March 15." Bhoothnath, which also stars Juhi Chawla, Priyanshu Chatterjee and SRK in a special appearance, is slated to release on May 9. The film is produced by Ravi Chopra.

Where were the Bachchans?

Where were the Bachchans?

While we heard some lah-di-dahs whisper, “It’s because Shah Rukh is hosting the event, and you know how rude he was to them last time, nah?”

Others attributed the absence to them not having bagged too many nominations.

The real reason, however, was that the First Family of Bollywood was in mourning. Amitabh’s mother Teji Bachchan passed away a couple of months ago, then close Amar Singh’s dad also passed away recently and the Bachchans aren’t in a celebrating mood.

Now that’s a ‘fair one’, ok!

Rekha shows Amitabh that she is married

Rekha shows Amitabh that she is married

It is common knowledge that veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were having an affair during the late 70s, and it is also well known that Rekha has, till this day, not married. So why did she attend a recent event with sindoor on her forehead? Was it because her former lover Amitabh Bachchan was also present?

It has been 27 years since the two have appeared together on the big screen, and both have gone to extreme lengths to avoid each other at events and shows. But, the two were seen at the same event this past Saturday… the wedding of Pt Sharma’s son Rahul.

Rekha came in first, wearing a beautiful saree and the Hindu marriage sign of the sindoor. And then Amitabh Bachchan and his daughter-in-law arrived. Both gave their blessings to the newlyweds, but refrained from talking to each other or making eye contact.

Now what we are mesmerized about is why did Rekha wear the sindoor at an event where her former lover was present? Could she be hinting at something… has Rekha secretly got married with someone? Or did she indeed get married with Amitabh Bachchan in the 70s and still regards herself as his wife?

What are your thoughts on this? We would love to hear from you. Please use the comments section below to leave your thoughts on this bizarre incident.

Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha to star in same film?

Reports are that the electrifying pair of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha is expected to hit the silver screen after a long gap of 27 years.

Though its not confirmed yet whether they will have any scenes together, but reports say that Bachchan and Rekha will again come together in Sujoy Ghosh 's Aladdin .

The film will also star Sanjay Dutt , Ritesh Deshmukh and Juhi Chawla .

Big B will play the role of a genie and Ritesh will be playing Aladdin. Rekha will have an equally important role in the movie.

The shooting of the film will start from next month.

Though Bachchan and Rekha were not available to comment on the film, the news about both starring in ‘Alladin’ is confirmed by a close source of the film.

Amitabh & Rekha together?

Amitabh & Rekha together?

Even we were equally surprised as you are on reading this title. Well that was the news, from a section of media reporting about reel life hit jodi Amitabh & Rekha's comeback in a film titled ALADDIN, to be directed by JHANKAAR BEATS fame director Sujoy Ghosh. The yesteryear-superhit jodi will appear onscreen after almost a gap of more than two decades (around 26 years). But sadly the news will settle only as headlines and will not turn out to be a reality as the director, Sujoy, denied about they being together in ALADDIN, when we contacted. Further he also confirmed that it's only Big B who is signed for the film, playing the character of 'Gini' and not Rekha. Well all those brokenhearted fans can at least enjoy the news, if not the movie. Would you like to see them together once again?

Bipasha, Lara, Ritesh to join Bachchan world tour

Bipasha, Lara, Ritesh to join Bachchan world tour

The now-off-now-on world tour by the Bachchan family is finally taking off this July. The entire clan, the Big B, Abhishek, Aishwariya, and possibly even Jaya, will be packing their bags and taking off. The family will apparently wait for the release of Ram Gopal Verma's Sarkar Raj, in which Ash and Abhishek play business partners.

The first leg of the Bachchan's tour will take them to Europe and North America over July and August. They will then travel elsewhere, covering 25 cities in all. Hrithik Roshan and Akshay Kumar, who were the star attractions in the initial line-up, have opted put as they have no dates to offer. Instead, the Bachchans have roped in Bispasha Basu, Lara Dutta and Ritesh Deshmukh. Ash is excited about the prospect of sharing the stage with hubby Abhishek and pa-in-law. She recalls the fun they had while performing to the famous Kajra Re number at an awards function a couple of years ago. She is sure they will recreate the magic once more. Having watched earlier concerts of the Big B, she is aware if how he is able to rivet the audience, while Abhishek has a blast. All three of them enjoy live shows as they genuinely enjoy music and dance. So for Ash, it is going to be one grand party on stage. And of course, Kajra Re will be part of the repertoire.

Aishwarya, Amitabh, Jaya join Abhishek Bachchan in Jaipur on his birthday

Aishwarya, Amitabh, Jaya join Abhishek Bachchan in Jaipur on his birthday

The Bachchan family has gathered at a farm house in Jaipur to celebrate Abhishek Bachchan's 32nd birthday. This is Abhishek's first birthday following his marriage to Aishwarya.

Abhishek is currently in Jaipur filming for Dilli-6. Aishwarya Rai is reported to have flown in on Monday, February 4.

Amitabh Bachchan took time off from the filming of Shoojit Sircar's Shoe Bite in the freezing environs of Shimla to be with his son.

Also joining the Bachchans is family friend and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh.

The Pink City of Jaipur likely holds fond memories for both Abhishek and Aishwarya since it was here, during the filming of JP Dutta's Umrao Jaan, that their love blossomed.

Two years ago, on his 30th birthday, Abhishek had gone public with his romance with Aishwarya and the couple had danced with joy to the heady tune of 'Kajra re'.

The Bachchans coming together as a family also assumes significance in view of the recent attack on their house in Mumbai.

Motorcycle borne miscreants threw glass bottles at the gates of their residence o early on Monday morning.

The incident is said to have taken place hours after activists of the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) clashed with each other throughout Sunday.

The Raj Thackeray-led MNS has been targeting north Indian migrants living in the metropolis.

Manali attracts Bollywood with onset of snow

Manali attracts Bollywood with onset of snow

White winters in the picturesque tourist township of Manali have always attracted tourists, including Bollywood, which has just completed shooting scenes of Amitabh Bachchan 's latest offering 'Shoe Bite' with Dia Mirza .

The mega superstar gave shots at different locations in and around Manali for the movie for a week before leaving for Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

Other stars were also not behind with Bobby Deol and his cousin Abhay Deol following Bachchan for shooting of the movie 'Lucky We Lucky', Anil Purkayastha, a film coordinator said on Sunday.

He said Rajnikant , Abhishek Bachchan , "item girl" Rakhi Sawant and other actors were also expected.

According to Bani Singh, a shooting coordinator, who was associated with the movie Krrish , the lovely locations and good infrastructure attracts film-makers, particularly in winter when there is frequent snowfall.

Purkayastha, who has been in the profession for 18 years, said, "The place has driven Bollywood since the days of 'Geet' in late 60s, which featured Silver Jubilee hero Rajendra Kumar."

'Himalay Ki Goad Mein', 'Paraya Dhan', 'Saudagar', 'Heena', 'Macchis', 'Krrish' and the recent Jab We Met are among the films shot in and around Manali.

The coordinators said film tourism could really take off in Manali if the government could give more facilities.

"Himachal Pradesh holds a lot of promises for Bollywood. If the state government provides little more concession, film tourism could increase manifold in the hill state," said another film coordinator Vikas Behl, who added he would meet Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on the issue.

He said like neighbouring Uttarakhand, Himachal should also provide single window facility for film shooting.

The coordinators said film makes and stars were all praise for the scenic beauty of the state and many promised to come back.

A high school in the name of Aishwarya Rai

A high school in the name of Aishwarya Rai

Today, Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan is all set to open a high school for girls in Barabanki district in the name of his gorgeous daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Bachchan seems to be giving a new twist to his intention of buying land after the Allahabad High Court decided to condone the alleged fraud and forgery through which 2.5 bighas (about 70,000 sq ft) of government land was allotted to him during the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime. The court had cancelled that allotment last year.

Now Bachchan has bought some land from private farmers in Barabanki district's Daulatpur village, about 40 km from state capital Lucknow, on which he is setting up a high school for girls.

Bachchan professes that his sole intention in buying land was to build an educational institution.

Today, he is to lay the foundation stone for the school to be named after his daughter-in-law Ash.

Hectic preparations are on at the 10-bigha plot that Big B recently purchased from different farmers in Daulatpur village to build what has been christened the 'Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Girls Intermediate College', a school for higher secondary students.

Bachchan has never explained what attracted him to Barabanki - a place with which he does not have even a remote connection.

Why Bachchan changed his original plan of naming the school after his eminent poet father, the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, is not known either.

Bachchan is to be accompanied by wife Jaya Bachchan , son Abhishek Bachchan and Ash.

To add political spice to the show, there will be Bachchan family friend Amar Singh, the Samajwadi Party general secretary who was instrumental in getting Bachchan the earlier government land allotment in violation of laws.

Big B duplicate upsets locals

Big B duplicate upsets locals

Amitabh Bachchan is presently shooting for Shoojit Sircar’s untitled project in Patlikuhal, a few kilometers away from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Interestingly, Krrish was shot at the same location.

All for nothing

Ever since the news of Bachchan shooting in their midst hit the small town, people from all over flocked to see the actor. However, they were disappointed when they spotted a duplicate instead.

An insider adds, “We were doing an important scene with Mr Bachchan.

But since he wasn’t available, we went ahead with a duplicate.” The scene was shot on the banks of the Beas river.”

Security had to be called to control the crowd who got unruly after they realised that they’d covered long distances for nothing.

A unitwalla adds, “The people who had gathered, wanted to take autographs and photos with Amitabh. Some of them had travelled for almost three hours from the interiors.

To pacify them, we promised them that Amitabh would be shooting later and asked them to come back then.”

A production guy who didn’t want to be named confirms, “Mr. Bachchan was supposed to shoot with us on Monday. But he couldn’t make it. Since the weather was clear, we decided not to wait for him and go ahead with the duplicate instead.

The lighting was perfect for the scene so it was pointless to waste the opportunity. He arrived in Manali on Tuesday and has been shooting with us since.”

Big B stands up for Bollywood

Even as Bollywood reacts to recent reports of gangster Abu Salem’s statements describing the nexus between the Hindi film industry and organized crime, superstar Amitabh Bachchan has dismissed those claims as wild exaggerations. The actor, currently in New York with his family, also gave his fans in the United States something to look forward to next year.

I hate the term Bollywood, Big B tells New York

Amitabh Bachchan was at his patriotic best at a press conference in New York ahead of 'Bachchan Sandhya' - an event which pays tribute to his father, poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. And the Big B took the opportunity to wax eloquent about Indian culture and traditions.

"I think that what is missing in Western culture is traditions. In our culture it dictates almost every younger generation to look after the older generation. These are some of the values and many, many more values that I learned from my father, it would take a very long time to describe them," said Bachchan.
