A new Bollywood film will explore the differences in mindsets between people from cosmopolitan and rural India through the stories of young college students.

"Dil, Dosti, Etc" (Heart, Friendship, Etc), directed by Manish Tiwary, juxtaposes the liberal and conservative facets of Indian society with the help of two male characters Sanjay and Apurv.

While Sanjay is an old-fashioned boy from Bihar who is an idealist willing to get involved in politics to bring balance to the society, Apurv is a representative of a rich, directionless and disillusioned metropolitan youth.

Though the pairing of music director Himesh Reshammiya with lyricist Sameer has produced major hits in the past, they fail to make heads turn with "Nanhe Jaisalmer".

Bollywood Film Nanhe Jaisalmer: Music Review : Nanhe Jaisalmer

Director : Samir Karnik, Music : Himesh Reshammiya, Lyrics : Sameer, Starring : Bobby Deol, Katrina Kaif, Dwij Yadav.

Music Review : Nanhe Jaisalmer

In multiplex era, child fictional dramas haven’t found fancy of hoi polloi and so do their lighthearted musical offerings. NANHE JAISALMER, a tale about fictional dreams coming true in factual realities, proves to be a breather in this genre and unexpectedly delivers melodic exuberance through its cherubic and jocular vocal and harmonic offerings. After APNE, the winner comes from Sonu Nigam in the form of thematically conceived track “Nanhe Yaar” while fresh talent Vineet surprises with similar vocal tonality in “Kesariya”.

Bollywood Forthcoming Film : Bollywood box-office report of the week

The coming Friday will see the release of the Dutt, Arshad, Riteish and Aashish starrer DHAMAAL and Ram Gopal Varma's Fardeen-Esha starrer, DARLING. Of the two DHAMAAL is expected to take a better start due to a better cast (and Indra Kumar's past record in comedy), as compared to DARLING.

All the three releases of last Friday failed to impress the paying audience as well as the critics. Ananth Narayan Mahadevan's VICTORIA NO. 203 looks like a half hearted attempt and expectedly the opening was poor across India. A definite disaster and there are no surprises in that outcome. Pooja Bhatt's DHOKHA is a good attempt gone wrong in execution and publicity.

In her latest movie DARLING which is also incidentally directed by Ram Gopal Varma, she has gone to the other end of the spectrum with a typical middle class Indian housewife look in sarees sans make-up.

Eaton Vance, which had enjoyed decades of low-profile success, became a kind of Wall Street darling in recent years. BOLLYWOOD COMING WITH A DOZEN OF SUPER HITS

Bollywood is in dire need of a number of super hits during the current year. The current year so far has had a good number of small and big films, but unfortunately most of them have miserably failed to hit the box office. In fact, big films have proved disasters so far. Only last month (July) a Salman-Govinda partnership movie of David Dhawan titled 'Partner' did hit the screen and attracted a large crowd but didn't fare too well at the box office.

BOLLYWOOD COMING WITH A DOZEN OF SUPER HITS

Bollywood : Darling is predicted to be a big hit

It’s news that wouldn’t make too many Bollywood bigwigs happy. But one Bollywood babe certainly is. This year’s Euro RSCG Bollywood Predictameter has said that many of 2007’s much-awaited films — including biggies like Om Shanti Om, Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag, Saavariyan and Aaja Nach Le — are likely to disappoint at the box office.

But it also says that the surprise hit of the year will be another Ram Gopal Varma film: the low-key Fardeen and Ishaa Koppikar-starrer Darling.

Shah Rukh Khan : All's Fair In Love And Bollywood

In a country where matrimonial ad pages are dotted with requests for “fair-complexioned” girls, it comes as no surprise that a fairness cream has roped in the relatively light-skinned Bollywood darling, Shah Rukh Khan, as its key endorser.

Lately, however, Khan's attempt to get more men to use Emami’s popular skin-lightening product, Fair and Handsome, has raised the hackles of some social commentators.

Bollywood to have only one Darling

Sample this: Much-awaited movies such as Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag (Sholay remake), the Sony Pictures’ Saanvariyan and Farah Khan’s magnum opus Om Shanti Om will just about scrape through at the box office.

The much-hyped Madhuri Dixit comeback film Aaja Nachley and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag seem headed for disaster while Chak De India will just be an average grosser, somewhat contrary to the early news flowing in from the box office.

And the biggest surprise of all: Ram Gopal Varma’s relatively low-key film Darling is destined to be the biggest hit of 2007.

Bollywood film Darling : Short clothes? Why not! : Esha Deol

After two consecutive flops at the box-office – "Just Married" and "Cash", Esha Deol has high expectations from "Darling", the twenty-fifth film of her career. It was the first time that she worked with Ram Gopal Varma and the experience has left her reinvigorated. Add to that, she is playing a ghost for the first time.

Bollywood News : Dhamaal Preview

Bollywood: 'Dhamaal' joins the bandwagon

We have heard about Bollywood following the herd mentality and to prove it again. Here's another to join the multiple starcast bandwagon. Yet another comedy caper, 'Dhamaal' is a story of four friends and a cop chasing them. But, unlike most of these multiple starcasts where the heriones are simply used as accessories, this one boasts of going without a female lead.

Bollywood Film Dhamaal : Party with a traditional flavour

Where's the party tonight. Yes, it is time to rock and also get nostalgic. "Thrilling Music", "unlimited Masti' and "Dhamaal" are the common phenomena experienced at any informal party thrown by youngsters whose ultimate passion is fun and frolic. So the farewell party organised recently for the senior students of 2003 batch of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College (IGGMC) by the juniors of 2005 batch kept this spirit and turned out to be a rollicking event for all those present. more>>

Salman Khan: Shuttles Between Jail and Bail

Having suggested that, the sympathy these stars evoke is unavoidable and often understandable. It’s not about the educated or uneducated masses who can’t understand what’s ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. It’s simply that these stars are more visible than the victims, and end up getting more publicity. Unfortunately, the law isn’t always well equipped to make the right decision, which doesn’t give the common man a lot of affection for it, so it’s the stars’ words against the others. Besides, there are two sides to every coin: while the likes of Khan and Dutt might use their influence to get out of a tight spot, they also invite extra wrath from the judicial system who love to present ‘brand India’ to the world, the ‘democracy’ where everyone gets equal justice - as Chacko puts it, ‘My India sees all her citizens as the same’.

Is Bollywood about to lose the plots?

But if Sony Pictures goes ahead and sues an Indian director in a $US30 million ($A37 million) plagiarism lawsuit, this could change.

Sony is considering legal action over a new hit film, Partner, parts of which are apparently lifted from its Hollywood movie Hitch, starring Will Smith.

In his defence, Partner producer Sohail Khan trots out the standard Bollywood euphemism, claiming his film is "inspired" by Hitch.
