Sonam to star opposite SRK in Yash Raj film
Aditya Chopra, son of Yash Chopra will return to directing after a long hiatus with SRK starrer 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'. As the title suggests the film has a Punjabi angle and hence Aditya was on the lookout for a young Punjabi girl to star opposite SRK. Aditya auditioned several girls from different places for the character of the Punjabi girl, but unfortunately he was not satisfied. However now Aditya seems to have found the right choice for his Punjabi girl character and it is none other than Sonam Kapoor. Sonam will now be seen opposite SRK in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
Aditya Chopra will be directing Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi after a long hiatus and obviously the film will have the Chopra's lucky mascot, Shahrukh Khan. The film's script too has been written by Aditya and is supposedly about the love story of a 40 year old man and a sixteen year old girl. Hence Adi was on the look out for a fair, tall Punjabi girl to play the sixteen year old in his film. He held several auditions but was unable to come up with a worthy candidate. However later Aditya realised that Anil Kapoor's daughter, Sonam who has made her debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Sawariyaa was the perfect choice for his Punjabi girl character. Aditya then approached Anil Kapoor who was only too happy that Sonam would be part of a Yash Raj film.
Sonam made her film debut opposite the dashing hunk Ranbir Kapoor in Sawariyaa, she is currently doing Rakeysh Mehra's Dilli 6 opposite Abhishek Bachchan and now it seems that she will soon be working with one of the most prestigious banners, Yash Raj films and she will be paired with one of bollywood's top actor's Shahrukh Khan. It seems that although Sonam's film Sawariyaa flopped, her career seems to have taken off in a big way. Aditya will be returning to direction after a hiatus of around eight years and naturally he wants everything about his film to be perfect. Sources claim "Aditya felt that Sonam suited the role of the fair, tall sixteen year old Punjabi girl perfectly." However neither Aditya nor Anil Kapoor has confirmed the news.

Is producer-director Aditya Chopra tying the knot with Bollywood star Rani Mukerji? The grapevine is abuzz with rumours ever since the former has filed a petition seeking divorce from his first wife at the Bandra Family Court in northwest Mumbai.
Aditya's father, movie moghul Yash Chopra, is not too happy with this alliance and therefore Aditya has moved out his family home and is now staying in a five-star hotel in suburban Mumbai.
In fact, Aditya's parents have already made it known publicly that they are against their son divorcing his wife whom they adore. Which, indirectly, means that if Aditya's marries Rani, he will have to do so against his parents' wishes.
It is speculated that Aditya's shift from his father's home is a prelude to his impending marriage with Bollywood star Rani, with whom he has been having an affair for a long time, according to sources.
A rumour has been also doing the rounds since Sunday that Aditya had, in fact, given the actress an engagement ring a day earlier when both met secretly at the hotel where he has been staying.
Though none close to the Chopras would confirm the rumour, but the fact that Aditya's petition seeking divorce from his first wife, Payal, was granted after the mandatory grace period of six months last week, lent teeth to the speculation.
"I am afraid, I will not be able to comment on the private life of my client. Moreover, I have no inkling of the exchange of engagement rings between Aditya and Rani. My client does not keep me informed about his private affairs," Gopal Pandey, long-time publicist of Yash Raj Films, told IANS.
As a matter of fact, in deference to the reputation of Yash Raj Films, especially the position filmmaker Yash Chopra holds in Bollywood, none came forward to comment one way or the other on the "impending" Aditya-Rani marriage, which, without confirmation, has remained a rumour.
Over the last few years, Rani has been seen in quite a few films made by Yash Raj Films, being handled by Aditya. She featured in Hum Tum, Veer-Zaara, Ta Ra Rum Pum and Laaga Chunari Mein Daag.

The law stipulates a six months counseling period after an initial filing for a divorce by mutual consent. The court rules on the petition only after completion of the period. "Once the divorce is signed both Rani and Adi are eager to tie the knot," a close family friend told HT. Denying past reports of an engagement, the source says "Adi was very particular about getting the divorce first before finalizing anything else." Adi's parents, Yash Raj and Pamela Chopra, continue to be opposed to his planned wedding with Rani. They are very fond of Aditya's wife Payal and have gifted her a bungalow in Khar Mumbai. Payal will also get Rs 25 crore as alimony when the divorce is finalized. Aditya Chopra, who was earlier staying his parents, has now moved to a five star hotel as a result of his differences with them. Rani Mukerji's parents are also reported to be unhappy with her plans to marry Aditya Chopra. Rani, who was earlier staying with her parents at her family home, moved into her own apartment at Janaki Kutir in June 2007.

Reports are that Rani Mukherjee is all set to marry Aditya Chopra , now that he has filed for divorce.
The divorce between Aditya and Payal Khanna will be final in May and that is when the director is all set to tie the knot with Rani.
In the meantime, Aditya and Payal are living out the mandatory six-month separation period.
“Once the divorce is signed, both Rani and Adi are eager to tie the knot,” reveals a close family friend.
“Though there have been rumours that they are already engaged, that is all untrue. Adi was very particular about getting the divorce first before formalising anything else,” he says.
Once all the legalities of the divorce are settled, the couple plans to have a grand wedding in Mumbai.
But right now, Aditya still has to deal with his father Yash Chopra and mom Pamela who are still said to be head over heels so much in love with Payal, that they have refused to accept Rani.
Sources close to the family reveal that the situation had become so bad that Chopra senior had asked his son to walk away from the Rs 1,000 crore Yashraj Films empire, which Aditya has played huge part in building.
On the other hand, Payal was gifted a plush bungalow in Khar, Mumbai, by her in-laws and after the divorce she will get Rs 25 crore as alimony.
Presently, Aditya is reportedly staying in a five star hotel and Rani moved into her own apartment at Janaki Kutir because it’s not just the Chopras who disapprove of their son’s alliance, Rani’s parents aren’t thrilled with it either.
“Even Rani’s parents are not very happy about the alliance,” says a prominent director and a close friend of the actress.
“That’s why Rani had to move out.”
Months back, the news of their engagement has hit the headlines but then both of them declared it baseless.
Finally, Aditya and Rani will tie into matrimonial knot soon after the settlement of his divorce in May.

So, they wish her to stay with them. They have helped her have a posh house and a good sum to take care of herself, as she has no child. While Yashji who owns a Rs 10 billion empire is too worried following the reported divorce proceedings between his son and daughter-in-law, his wife Pamela says that there is no cause for such an anxiety as the father and the son wouldn't do anything to displease each other, what may come. That's why she is keeping mum on the Aditya-Rani affair but denies any report of any ceremony including the roka usually held before the marriage and

But, his directorial debut 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' created a sort of record as Bollywood's longest running movie, which is running in its 13th year. And now Aditya is ready to direct his third film. After directing his second film, 'Mohabbatein', back in 2000, Aditya had taken a conscious break from direction to set up and studio model making Yash Raj Films a name to reckon with. In the following years, Yash Raj Films, under the keen eye of Aditya, produced blockbusters like 'Dhoom', 'Dhoom: 2', 'Hum Tum', 'Bunty Aur Babli', 'Salaam Namaste', 'Fanaa' and 'Chak De India'. While Aditya was the creative producer in all these films, he also wrote his father 's directorial venture 'Veer-Zaara' in 2004, as well as the stories of other films. And, with the few flops in 2007, Adi wore the director's cap again for his third directorial venture, which is titled 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', and will star the topmost star Shah Rukh Khan. In an attempt to escape media glare and unwanted publicity, the two agreed not to mention the terms of settlement in the legal document and have decided to keep the divorce as low profile as possible by agreeing to an out of court settlement.
The divorce has once again flared up speculations of a romantic link up between Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukherjee. Though the two have constantly denied having any intimate relation and have stuck by the famous cliché "we’re just friends", with Adi finally single these best friends might just make a lovely married couple.

It’s about Aditya Chopra and Rani Mukherjee. And they are seeing each other. Aditya is married. Rani is not. A slight pique of interest because it involves two of the biggest personalities in Bollywood. And since I’m not too good (or keen) on writing “gossip” here’s what Mid-day reports…
Rani Mukerji and family might go blue in the face denying her link-up with Aditya Chopra, but the fact remains that a certain Chopra junior has been frequenting USA on the pretext of editing Yash Raj Films next production, Tara Rum Pum (starring Saif and Rani). Rumour has it that the visits are very hush-hush, with not even the unit being aware of them.
Says a source from New York, “A couple of weeks ago, Adi dropped in to meet Rani and they spent three days together at the Radisson Hotel in New York.
When the entire unit was shifting from New York to Connecticut, Rani delayed her move, as she wanted to spend time with Adi. It was very secretive and even the hotel management had been specifically warned not to speak about them.”

The Mukerjis are apparantly appalled at the rumours.
"Why is Rani being dragged into their domestic problems," fumes Rani's mom Krishna.
"We do not know what is going on in Aditya Chopra's house — it's completely their problem. We have nothing to do with it. Rani has been busy and in fact she's been shooting for 'Baabul' day and night. How can they insinuate that Rani is involved in this? Why are they playing with her personal life," she asks.
A close friend also come to Rani's recue.
"Rani is not a home-breaker! She is not dating Aditya Chopra. If Adi is having some problem in his married life that's his problem, not Rani's. Rani shouldn't be dragged into it. They are working together in many projects. I think one should end this story here and doesn't read too much into this," he tells.
Brother Raja goes a step ahead and says, "Just because she is doing films with somebody does not mean that she is having an affair. Rani has the cleanest image in the industry and that's why her name is being dragged into this."
