Shah Rukh wants 3 more songs for Kolkata Knight Riders

Shah Rukh wants 3 more songs for Kolkata Knight Riders

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is going the whole hog to promote his IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders.

Just a few days back, the King Khan released the theme song of the team composed by Vishal-Shekhar. Now, SRK has roped in Bappi Lahiri to compose three songs for his team.

Of the three numbers, Bappi Lahiri will sing only one track. The second track will be sung by Usha Uthup and the third by a Bengali band called Bhoomi. All the songs will be in Hindi. Only one track by Bhoomi will have some Bengali words.

Reportedly, SRK wants all the compositions to be powerful and motivating.

Bappi Lahiri, who is a self-confessed fan of SRK, will record the songs next week. He says there might be a few surprises for listeners as he is cajoling SRK to sing a few lines in songs.

On the other hand, Preity Zinta and beau Ness Wadia are also coming up with a rocking Punjabi track for their Mohali team.

Business tycoon Vijay Mallya, too, has roped in Sanjay Gupta to direct an ad and a music video for his Bangalore team.

Less than a month remains for the IPL tournament to begin. And every franchise wants to promote its team best. SRK has the head-start so far.

Sonam to star opposite SRK in Yash Raj film

Sonam to star opposite SRK in Yash Raj film

Aditya Chopra, son of Yash Chopra will return to directing after a long hiatus with SRK starrer 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'. As the title suggests the film has a Punjabi angle and hence Aditya was on the lookout for a young Punjabi girl to star opposite SRK. Aditya auditioned several girls from different places for the character of the Punjabi girl, but unfortunately he was not satisfied. However now Aditya seems to have found the right choice for his Punjabi girl character and it is none other than Sonam Kapoor. Sonam will now be seen opposite SRK in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

Aditya Chopra will be directing Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi after a long hiatus and obviously the film will have the Chopra's lucky mascot, Shahrukh Khan. The film's script too has been written by Aditya and is supposedly about the love story of a 40 year old man and a sixteen year old girl. Hence Adi was on the look out for a fair, tall Punjabi girl to play the sixteen year old in his film. He held several auditions but was unable to come up with a worthy candidate. However later Aditya realised that Anil Kapoor's daughter, Sonam who has made her debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Sawariyaa was the perfect choice for his Punjabi girl character. Aditya then approached Anil Kapoor who was only too happy that Sonam would be part of a Yash Raj film.

Sonam made her film debut opposite the dashing hunk Ranbir Kapoor in Sawariyaa, she is currently doing Rakeysh Mehra's Dilli 6 opposite Abhishek Bachchan and now it seems that she will soon be working with one of the most prestigious banners, Yash Raj films and she will be paired with one of bollywood's top actor's Shahrukh Khan. It seems that although Sonam's film Sawariyaa flopped, her career seems to have taken off in a big way. Aditya will be returning to direction after a hiatus of around eight years and naturally he wants everything about his film to be perfect. Sources claim "Aditya felt that Sonam suited the role of the fair, tall sixteen year old Punjabi girl perfectly." However neither Aditya nor Anil Kapoor has confirmed the news.

SRK sports a Marathi 'pagadi'

SRK sports a Marathi 'pagadi'

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is known for getting into the skin of the character completely, in each and every role he portrays, be it Kabir Khan in Chak De India or Om Prakash Makhija in OSO.

Now, the Baadshah of Bollywood took that very habit of his into real life earlier this week, when he was present to inaugurate the 'Abhijit Kadam Memorial Football tournament' in Pune. In keeping with the true 'Puneri' tradition, King Khan was spotted wearing a pink turban and if you think SRK must have been feeling 'thoda' out of place in this new get up, you couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, Shah Rukh seemed completely in his element with 'pagdi' et al and needless to say, entertained one and all with his antics.

What's more, later he was even seen kicking ball, enjoying football as he always had. Must say this is truly one hero who can enact each and every role with élan, be it in reel life or real life. Chak De SRK…

Shah Rukh Khan asked to learn from Aamir Khan

Shah Rukh Khan asked to learn from Aamir Khan

Apparently hitting back at Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan , Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said public icons who passed off smoking on screens as "creative liberty" should take a leaf out of the book of actors like Aamir Khan how to use the artistic tool.

"Creative liberty should be used to improve society and not kill mankind", Ramadoss said in response to a query on public icons supporting smoking on screen as their right to creative liberty.

"Look at Taare Zameen Par ", he said, saying the film has helped in changing the mindset of thousands of teachers and parents in looking at the problem of dyslexia.

"That is what creative liberty should do", he said on Friday.

SRK had recently defended in Delhi on-screen smoking saying it was a creative liberty of artistes.

According to Ramadoss, increasing tobacco abuse by students was a growing matter of concern.

The Indian component of the Global Youth Tobacco Survey indicated that nearly 10 per cent of Indian high school going students used tobacco products.

Ramadoss had last month said Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and SRK can learn a thing or two from superstar Rajnikant regarding smoking on screen. He had also said SRK should not have smoked in the stands while watching a cricket match in Mumbai.

The night of the Black Lady!

The night of the Black Lady!

It was left to yesteryear star Kamini Kaushal to describe the pulse behind Saturday night’s 53rd Fair One Filmfare Awards 2007 at the Yash Raj Studios.

Watching masters of ceremony Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan at their irrepressible best, she observed, “These boys are the soul of the show.” And it was true, the Bollywood Badshah and Chhote Nawab with their zany sense of compering set the tone for the evening when Bollywood’s bold and beautiful first walked the red carpet and then, if they were lucky, up the stage to collect the Black Lady for work they had done in 2007.

SRK who won the Best Actor Award for Chak De! India , took home his seventh, which is only one lesser than Dilip Kumar. And Kareena Kapoor, perhaps the evening’s brightest star, got the Best Actress Award for Jab We Met in which she acted with ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor. He was conspicuous by his absence. As was Aamir Khan whose Taare Zameen Par got the Best Director, Best Film and Critics’ Award for Best Actor for star kid Darsheel Safary. The 11-year-old boy had the audience in splits and his parents in tears with his acceptance speech before Shah Rukh and Saif hoisted him on their shoulders and carried him away.

Rishi Kapoor, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award from his first co-star, the stunning Dimple Kapadia, was joined on stage by lovely wife Neetu Kapoor. Rishi dedicated the award to her and his grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor. Then, in an absolute RK Studios moment, his voice choked with emotion, Rishi said he would be proud to see his son Ranbir one day getting the same award.

It was Ranbir’s night, too, as he won the Best Debutant award. There was much bonding between the Kapoor cousins as Ranbir and sister Riddhima and Kareena and Karisma Kapoor cheered lustily for each other. While the new actress in town, Deepika Padukone, was unquestionably the apt recipient of the Best Debutante award.

Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi and Himesh Reshammiya entertained, while Karan Johar made a valiant attempt despite a throat infection with female compere Vidya Balan to upstage Shah Rukh and Saif. But the duo was unputdownable that night. Akshay put on a pulsating performance that included songs from Heyy Baby and Bhool Bhulaiyya , Kareena did a Britney Spears to It’s Rocking and Mauja Hi Mauja , Vivek played the Tapori Aye Ganpat role to the hilt and Himesh revealed his new avataar with Asalam Waleikum .

Shah Rukh, Kareena hailed Best Actors

Shah Rukh, Kareena hailed Best Actors

He may be Bollywood's Best Bubbly Male, but tonight actor Shah Rukh Khan was acknowledged for his new serious avatar in Chak De India ! The man won the Filmfare Best Actor in a leading role (male) Award leaving behind his co-nominees - Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapur. Having achieved two nominations this year ( Chak De and Om Shanti Om ), SRK stated that every role is close to his heart, and if asked to choose between the two flicks, he really had no preferences. "We're not here to win awards. I only like to entertain, and when I make someone smile I feel happy." Though at his rudest best as host and MC, Shah Rukh was kind in his winning speech and generously thanked the people behind his 'success'.

The Best Actor Award in a leading role (Female) went to Jab We Met 's bubbly Geet, Kareena Kapoor, who today sang the geet of success. The girl looked lovely in her Manish Malhotra creation – off white sari and orange blouse. In her thank you speech, she said: I have three people to thank. They are responsible for this. The first is my director Imtiaz Ali, then the producers Ashtavinayak Cine Vision, and third is my co-star Shahid Kapoor. Interestingly, the Best Actor award was presented to her by none other than beau Saif, whom she thanked for presenting her with the award and making her night special.

SRK woos Shoaib

SRK woos Shoaib

The Rawalpindi Express is gearing up to thunder over the Indian cricket scene in a big way. Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is in Mumbai to meet Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who is also the owner of the Kolkata IPL team.

On Monday night, Shoaib met King Khan at his Bandstand bungalow, Mannat and another meeting is scheduled for later.

A well-placed source in the industry, who is close to Shoaib, says, "Shah Rukh will definitely offer Shoaib a bomb of a price to be on his team. Both are unlikely to disagree over money as they go back a long way. "

The source adds, "Shah Rukh has made it clear to all his associates that he wants very fiery players on his team; players who will only play to win."

Shoaib has already met with Shah Rukh's associates and team members. Sources say that Shoaib is also eager to meet with Sanjay Dutt while he is in Mumbai. He apparently called Dutt as soon as he landed on Monday morning and Dutt has agreed to meet him.

Meanwhile, prospective Kolkata IPL skipper Sourav Ganguly said that there was no question of IPL games moving out of Eden Garden. Ganguly capped the controversy regarding IPL matches in Kolkata, saying, "There is no question of the matches being played anywhere else." Asked about the demands made by the members for tickets, he said, "The Cricket Association of Bengal will get Rs 10 crore. If the members don't agree, buy them tickets with that money."

Indian Premier League commissioner and Chairman Lalit Modi threatened CAB that the Kolkata team would be withdrawn and brought to Ahmedabad if CAB does not adhere to the rules and regulations of the glitzy event set to roll out in April this year. Spinner Mohammad Rafique, who will retire when Bangladesh's home series against South Africa ends in March, has evinced interest in playing for Kolkata, but has said he will wait before making a final decision.

Ganguly is apparently in talks with hard-hitting Australian batsman Adam Gilchrist on Shah Rukh's behalf to rope him in for the team.

I never went away from television: Shah Rukh Khan

I never went away from television: Shah Rukh Khan

As the host of the third edition of the popular game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan brought a youthful effervescence to the programme.

As he embarks on yet another new innings on television as host of the innovative game show, 'Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain' – the game show will have adults vying with sharp-minded kids in terms of their ability to answer school grade level questions – the King Khan seems as excited as he seemed when he made his foray on the small screens two decades ago with the serial 'Fauji'.

''I don't think it would be right for one to call 'KBC3' or 'Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain' as my comeback to television. I never went away from television in the first place. Infact, I am coming on television for the 11th time since I did the serial 'Fauji' years ago. In any case, my endeavour is always to entertain people be it on TV, stage show or films,'' SRK said.

Talking during his visit to the Capital to promote his new TV show, SRK, whose television roles in serials like 'Fauji' upstaged him into limelight, paving the way for a career in films, said it was to television that he owed his success as an actor.

'' Whatever I have become or achieved today has been largely because of television. As a movie actor, I became what I have become, thanks to television. I owe my life to television and stage and, of course movies now,'' SRK said.

SRK said the evolution of television over the years had been outstanding. In this sense, calling television the small screen was a misnomer.

''I feel the term 'small screen' used to describe TV today is misleading. Over the last few decades, there has been an amazing change in television whether it be in terms of quality, technology, eyeballs, business or the level of news coverage. Infact, TV's evolution over the years has been absolutely outstanding and amazing,'' SRK said.

Noting that TV had taken a great turnover over the last two decades, SRK said, ''few years ago when I used to go for press conferences, there used to be just five to six TV cameras and not much technology was available. Now you have television booming events like this directly accessible all over the country through their OB vans. This huge amount of change is a welcome one.''

SRK said the last few years had witnessed people like Siddharth Basu, who conceptualised shows like 'Kaun Banega Crorepati', 'Jhalak Dikhla Ja' and 'Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain', come up with some of the most innovative programmes which made for greater audience participation on these TV shows. In this context, he said the new show to be aired soon on Star Plus, would involve a lot of interaction from children, who today formed a crucial audience for television.

A television game show based on the international Mark Burnett format 'Are you smarter than a Fifth Grader', where grade school level questions are put to adults from all walks of life.

The game show will witness SRK act as a teacher of class five sprightly kids where adult contestants will be posed ten questions from grade level one to five, the right answers to which would entitle them to a mammoth prize money of Rs 5 crore.

The adults will be offered three lifelines wherein they will have the option to take the help of the kids for the answer of the questions. In case, the contestants fail to answer all the ten questions, they will be allowed to quit the show with the prize money won by them but only after saying that 'I am not smarter than a fifth Grader'.

The essence of the show is the humour generated out of the inability of adults to answer primary level questions and the pressure experienced by them in their effort to keep their reputations intact in a class of kids from class one to five.

''Class one to five kids can take part in the show. They will be my students who will help the 'new adult student' grapple with questions from first to fifth standard. In this sense, there will be lot of interaction with children during the show. The idea is to interact with the families through our interaction with children,'' SRK said.

To be part of the show, the children would have to have a certain level of awareness, he expressed hoped that the knowledge level of the kids on the show would encourage other children to make efforts to develop general awareness which could enable them to appear on the TV show.

''It was the educational aspect attached to the show that had my excited about it. I am sure that watching the show, children of my son's age would also want to come on the show which in turn will generate in them a curiosity to increase their general awareness,'' SRK said.

The King Khan said that as an entertainer, his endeavour was to cater first and foremost to children.

''Whatever entertainment I have given all these years whether on TV, stage or films, my attempt has primarily been to entertain children, who I think are the audience with the shortest attention span. This year, I have resolved to do something for children. Doing this show is part of that resolve,'' SRK said.

Besides, the game show, SRK also plans to make a film for children.

''My teacher Barry John had told me that only if you keep in mind interests, likes or dislikes of children in doing your roles will you be a good actor. So, I would love to do many things for kids. This year I have resolved to do a lot for kids. One of them would be a film that we also can produce. I have this great desire to make a film for children. However, the budgets and the story are something that are still being worked out,'' SRK said.

Among his forthcoming ventures, SRK said he was working on two films to be made by his production house, Red Chillies entertainment. One of them would be an animation film. Then, there is Ravi Chopra 's Bhootnath , where he features in a brief role.

''I did 'Bhootnath' because the director of the film Vivek Sharma is a close friend,'' SRK said. Then, there is a item song by SRK in Rakesh Roshan 's Krazy 4 .

Also on the anvil is Aditya Chopra 's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi , shooting for which will begins in May. Hunt is on currently for a new girl to play the female lead in the film opposite SRK.

Shah Rukh back with a new game show

you think you are smarter than a fifth grade student? Confused!! Well if you are then let SRK do the rest.
Do you think you are smarter than a fifth grade student?
Confused!! Well if you are then participate in a new game show and let the Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan do the rest.
After hitting it big with Kaun Banega Crorepati 3 (KBC), King Khan is back on small screen as he will now host a new television game show, Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?, a show that has adult contestants testing their wits with a group of sprightly 10-year-olds.
"Yes, I am back. I am happy to come back on small screen," Khan said at a press conference in the capital to announce the show on Tuesday.
The new game show to be aired on Star Plus very soon is based on the lines of the US-based game show, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader, where grade-school level questions are put to adults from all walks of life who attempt to relive school with success.

"The idea is actually that I wanted to do something for children this year and I will try to fulfill that desire as an entertainer," said Khan.
He added, "I always hope to churn out something interesting and this time something more educative also."
Produced by Siddharth Basu's Synergy Adlabs, this is Shah Rukh's second game show for the company after the hugely successful Kaun Banega Crorepati 3(KBC).
Officials point out that the essence of the show is the test that adults will be put to answer primary school questions, the pressure of going back to school and keeping their reputations intact.
"Even the likes of 2008 Presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Rudy Guiliani have turned down the offer to be on show as contestants. Such is the pressure," said a senior company official.
While King Khan prepares his questions, its time to dig into school books once again as winning contestants will walk away with whooping Rs 5 crore.

Kajol may not work with Shah Rukh?

Kajol may not work with Shah Rukh?

Love is blind, but not when it comes to business. One would think that if Kajol is proposed a Karan Johar project also starring Shah Rukh Khan, she would simply jump at the offer. And news has it that she’s done just that.

However, Kads shocks us with, “I haven’t even read the script! Once I read it, I’ll decide!” So, this talented actress doesn’t turn a blind eye where work is concerned. On the contrary, it’s the eyes-wide-open phenomenon that takes over when it comes to scripts. And if she doesn’t like it she’ll simply say no! But let’s hope she manages to say kuch kuch hota hai while reading this one. We’re sure KJo is hoping!

SRK-Kajol’s second innings!

SRK-Kajol’s second innings!

It is true! King Khan and his all time favorite lead lady Kajol will soon pair up again for entertaining us. They have made us undergo a multitude of emotions like making us cry, laugh and have enticed us with their romance, and now they will be back again.

Kajol had made a stunning comeback after having her baby pairing opposite Aamir Khan for ‘Fanaa’ which won her the best actress award for that year!

If the rumor mills are to be trusted, then SRK and Kajol will act, sing and dance to the tunes of Karan Johar because he is the one who has planned to get them back together again. It is hard to believe that King Khan and Mrs. Devgan will face the camera together after seven years because all their films like ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’, ‘Karan- Arjun’, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ are still so fresh in our memories.

It is reported that Karan Johar has confirmed that he will be directing this pair. It is also believed that Shibani Bhatija is working on the script for this film and it is believed to be an emotional love story.

There were also rumors churning out during ‘Kabhie Alvidha Na Kehna’ that actually Kajol was approached for playing the role of Abhishek’s wife in the film but it was later on passed over to Rani.

Now all we can do is just cross our fingers and wish that we get to see this fantastic pair through Karan soon.

Shah Rukh Khan : All's Fair In Love And Bollywood

In a country where matrimonial ad pages are dotted with requests for “fair-complexioned” girls, it comes as no surprise that a fairness cream has roped in the relatively light-skinned Bollywood darling, Shah Rukh Khan, as its key endorser.

Lately, however, Khan's attempt to get more men to use Emami’s popular skin-lightening product, Fair and Handsome, has raised the hackles of some social commentators.
