'Taare Zameen Par' writer wants to work with Salman Khan

'Taare Zameen Par' writer wants to work with Salman Khan

Amole Gupte , the writer of Taare Zameen Par , is ready with another story which he wants to direct himself.

The film is titled India Item and it will once again revolve around a children’s issue. Having spent many years of his life with children, particularly the disadvantaged ones, Amole is brimming with ideas that aim to bring to light various issues regarding kids.

‘India Item’ will reportedly have roller skating as its backdrop.

Amole is not going to work with Aamir Khan this time. He still hasn’t forgiven, or at least forgotten, the way he was relegated from the director to creative director of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ after Aamir decided to take the directorial reigns himself.

However, for ‘India Item’, Amole is eager to work with Salman Khan .

Amole says he wants to work with Salman not because he is a big star, but because, in Amole’s opinion, he (Salman) cares a lot about social issues.

Even though Salman hasn’t yet given his nod to the film, Amole says he will begin shooting his film in June.

Aamir Khan at the Olympics Torch Relay

Coca-Cola India recently announced torchbearers for the Olympic Torch Relay and present among them was Aamir Khan.

The six torchbearers were from diverse fields like Cinema, Government, Corporate house, NGO, Science and grassroots. The criteria of selection involved short listing luminaries, who besides having excelled in their respective fields should have also demonstrated commitment to the cause of environment stewardship and Aamir was asked to represent Cinema.

Aamir who is also Coca-Cola's brand ambassador said, “I am delighted to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay. This truly is a rare privilege and an absolute honor. What makes this feeling even more special is that it has given me the opportunity to be associated with the world's greatest sporting event and at the same time also raise awareness to the cause of the environment. On behalf of Coca-Cola, I am delighted to announce the roll out of the company's latest environment awareness initiative. The countrywide program includes organizing painting competitions in schools on the theme “The Need To Protect Environment”. The initiative would involve thousands of students across India.”

The Reason For Aamir´s Khan´s Fastest "Yes" !

The Reason For Aamir´s Khan´s Fastest "Yes" !
As we had told you, Rajkumar Hirani has finalised the lead actors of his new film (tentatively titled 'Idiots'), Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

So finally Kareena will get a chance to work with her 'favourite actor'. It is another matter that whenever a major star agrees to work with Kareena Kapoor, she makes it a point call him her 'favourite actor' in print as well as broadcast media!

The two had earlier been paired for Mani Ratnam's 'Lajjo', but the film never progressed beyond the announcement stage.

Back to our headlines, this must be the fastest "Yes" that Aamir Khan has given to any film in recent times. And his reason is, " Raju (Hirani) is a fine director and I have been wanting to work with him."

Aamir gets a new head-line!

Aamir gets a new head-line!

Aamir Khan came to Delhi on Saturday morning. But, unlike what was reported, and what television cameras lined up to capture him were expecting, he wasn’t bald!

The actor’s decision to sport the shorn look for the film Ghajini had been making headlines, and even Aamir had confirmed that he would shave his head on March 14, his birthday. It was reportedly his wife Kiran’s idea that he do so.

But when Aamir landed in Delhi the next day, the short crop was intact. According to sources, his hairstylist Avan Contractor and Ghajini’s director AR Murgadoss couldn’t finalise the actor’s exact look in Ghajini.

And so the great shave was stalled. Our source from Ghajini’s production house says, “There has been a lot of speculation about when Aamir would shave his hair.

He’ll be sporting the bald look in some of the most vital scenes in the film. Being a perfectionist, he didn’t want to wear a wig for them. However, deciding to go completely bald was a particularly difficult decision for him. After much thought, he finally decided that he’d shave off his hair on his birthday. But he backed off due to a certain reason.”

It is learnt that an integral part of Aamir’s bald look is a prominent scar, which is very relevant to the film’s script. “On March 14 evening, Aamir, Avan and Murgadoss just couldn’t decide how the scar would look. As the scar had to look exactly the same in all the scenes, they didn’t want to take any chances. The scar also has a certain design that the three have decided on. Now, it has been decided that Aamir will shave off his hair this week,” adds the source. The film also stars Asin and Jiah Khan.

Ranbir Kapoor in Aamir Khan's Delhi Belly?

Ranbir Kapoor in Aamir Khan's Delhi Belly?

In a very short time, newcomer Ranbir Kapoor has made it to the wishlists of many Bollywood producers and directors.

Ranbir has himself conceded that ever since the release of his first film Saawariya offers have been pouring in from many production houses and filmmakers, but he is taking his pick cautiously.

The latest buzz from Bollywood is that Aamir Khan wants Ranbir to play an important role in his home production Delhi Belly , which will be directed by a Swedish director named Robert Nylund. Aamir will not star in the film.

Apparently, Aamir liked Ranbir’s work in ‘Saawariya’ and decided to cast the young lad in ‘Delhi Belly’, which is an English movie with a youthful theme.

Reports say Aamir and Robert have met Ranbir and given him script narration. Ranbir reportedly liked the script and has given his verbal nod to the project.

However, there has been no official confirmation of this by either Ranbir or Aamir.

Apart from Aamir, filmmaker Mani Ratnam is also in Mumbai to put together the cast of his next film that would star Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai in lead roles. Mani is keen to sign Ranbir for a significant role in the film.

Aamir's six packs!

Aamir's six packs!

The actor had acquired six-pack abs in October during a month-long schedule in South Africa where he had shot for a special dance number for Ghajini. Since then, however, he had lost his six-pack and put on some weight.

Now, he had to complete the dance number (about 30 per cent of it was left) at Film City recently. However, when choreographer Ahmed Khan met him, he realised that Aamir’s body was not matching the earlier shoot. Ahmed Khan pointed out that Aamir had lost his six-pack abs and had also become a little plump. So how could they shoot?

That’s when Aamir requested Ahmed to give him 21 days to get back to shape for the song. And sure enough, the actor achieved his target in 21 days. He returned with six-pack abs in three weeks!
Ahmed Khan says, "We had shot this song in South Africa four months ago, in October, and it turned out to be excellent. Later I wanted to add some variations in the song for it to look better. So I requested Aamir for some extra time. But Aamir got busy with the post-production and promotion of Taare Zameen Par. Finally, when I met him last month to discuss the song, I saw that his six-pack was gone, he was also looking plump. When I pointed this out to him, he requested me to give him 21 days to get back the same look. When I met him 20 days later, he was looking as perfect as he was in South Africa. We shot the song over four days."

Needless to say, Ahmed Khan is impressed with the actor’s commitment. He says, "Aamir not only has commitment, but will power too. Imagine getting six-pack abs twice over, for a film!"

Shah Rukh Khan asked to learn from Aamir Khan

Shah Rukh Khan asked to learn from Aamir Khan

Apparently hitting back at Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan , Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss said public icons who passed off smoking on screens as "creative liberty" should take a leaf out of the book of actors like Aamir Khan how to use the artistic tool.

"Creative liberty should be used to improve society and not kill mankind", Ramadoss said in response to a query on public icons supporting smoking on screen as their right to creative liberty.

"Look at Taare Zameen Par ", he said, saying the film has helped in changing the mindset of thousands of teachers and parents in looking at the problem of dyslexia.

"That is what creative liberty should do", he said on Friday.

SRK had recently defended in Delhi on-screen smoking saying it was a creative liberty of artistes.

According to Ramadoss, increasing tobacco abuse by students was a growing matter of concern.

The Indian component of the Global Youth Tobacco Survey indicated that nearly 10 per cent of Indian high school going students used tobacco products.

Ramadoss had last month said Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and SRK can learn a thing or two from superstar Rajnikant regarding smoking on screen. He had also said SRK should not have smoked in the stands while watching a cricket match in Mumbai.

Aamir and Akshay together again?

Aamir and Akshay together again?

We had told you in December itself that Aamir Khan plans to release his next film, the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster, GHAJINI, in October (Aamir eyeing next 'Eid' for GHAJINI release?), aiming for the big weekend that will coincide with the 'Eid-ul-Fitr' and Gandhi Jayanti holidays.

Well, that is exactly how it has turned out to be! GHAJINI is now listed for release on October 3, in reliable trade journals. An interesting thing is that the makers may even go for a mid-week release, as 'Eid-ul-Fitr' may fall on October 1.

However, Aamir Khan may not be the only top star wooing the audience during the bountiful weekend. News is that Akshay 'Khiladi' Kumar, whose movies have become a constant feature during the 'Eid' period, is likely to give him company. The series of Akki films that released during the 'Eid' period goes something like this- AITRAAZ (2004), GARAM MASALA (2005), JAAN-E-MANN (2006) and BHOOL BHULAIYAA (2007). The current year is likely to see Akshay's action extravaganza CHANDNI CHOWK TO CHINA (with hot new sensation Deepika Padukone), release during the festive occasion.

So, will history repeat itself, and will the box-office witness double joy? Obviously, we are referring to the twin blockbuster success of WELCOME and TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, both of which released on the same Friday, during the other 'Eid'. We are quite sure that the answer will be a definite yes!

Aamir Khan's GHAJINI to remain GHAJINI!

Aamir Khan's GHAJINI to remain GHAJINI!

Aamir Khan's next release, after the blockbuster triumph of his directorial debut venture, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR, will be the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster, GHAJINI. As is known, Aamir is returning to full fledged action after a long duration. And if our memory serves us right, it was for Vikram Bhatt's GHULAM, way back in 1998.

Ever since the time of it's announcement, there has been a lot of curiosity regarding the Hindi title of the GHAJINI remake, which is still without an official one. But as usual, here is the latest on the subject. GHAJINI is going to be called just that in Hindi also! This means that there will be no renaming of the project, as per the current information.

While on the title, the obvious question that comes to mind is what exactly GHAJINI means in Hindi? Well, there is no such word as GHAJINI in the Hindi dictionary. Actually there is no word as GHAJINI in Tamil too!

However, knowing Aamir Khan we will not be surprised if just before the release of the film, he will make public his / makers justification for the strange title, and believe us, the reason given will be concrete!

Shahid Kapur in Aamir Khan mould?

Shahid Kapur in Aamir Khan mould?

Shahid Kapur is on a career high.

Soon after the super success of solo hits Vivaah and Jab We Met, Shahid is increasingly turning out to be amongst the select few who can carry a solo hero film on his young shoulders. A commendable feat considering that most of the hits delivered last year in Bollywood were multi-starrers.

Even Shahid is being very selective with the projects and the banner he signs.

The industry too has reposed the faith in him. His forthcoming solo hero projects include Aziz Mirza's Kismat Konnection, Ken Ghosh's musical, two films with Yashraj Films and a film to be directed by powerhouse performer, dad, Pankaj Kapoor.

The industry too is abuzz about his depth and acting prowess and are betting big time on him. They even consider him in the Aamir Khan mould in the acting front, since he is quite young and has a long way to go.

And now the industry reports that Shahid has been signed by none other than master craftsman Vishal Bharadwaj for his next production, something which comes as a virtual stamp of approval of Shahid capabilities and growth curve as an actor.

Surely seems like 'star – actor' Shahid Kapur's journey to super stardom is scripted already!

Leave my brother alone: Aamir

Leave my brother alone: Aamir

The actor wants that Faisal be admitted to a nursing home

Aamir Khan wants his brother Faisal to be sent to a nursing home if he is not given Faisal’s custody. Khan moved an application before the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Bandra on Monday.

Faisal had, however, told the court that he should be left on his own because he was physically and mentally fit. The court will decide on Fai-sal’s custody on February 15.

In his application, Aamir has annexed a medical report from KEM Hospital which says Faisal suffers from ‘paranoid schizophrenia’. “It is not safe for Faisal to continue living in society without proper medication and expert medical supervision as he can get violent and harm himself and others”, reads the application.

Faisal’s advocate SA Vasid said no medical report brought before the court talks of retaining Faisal as an indoor patient in a care centre or him needing continuous medication.

“Doctors from JJ Hospital has been observing him for the past four months and it has been a drug-free process,” he said.

Faisal, who appeared before the court, on Monday said he did not want to live with Aamir and that Aamir had no time for him because he was a ‘superstar’.

Aamir’s counsel Mihir Gheewala told the court that nobody but Aamir had the resources to support Faisal. At present, Faisal in Chembur.

Aamir goes soft on awards?

Aamir goes soft on awards?

Aamir Khan's irreverence for awards is well known, though award functions may not have been the best venue to look out for the actor in the past, however, with his directorial debut 'Taare Zameen Par' lapping up accolades, the actor-turned-director is becoming more receptive to the accolades coming his way.

When quizzed about his movie winning appreciation, Aamir Khan said:"I make films for my audience. After that, if my films compete at an international level and win in the true spirit, then I am happy."

Speaking at the third Jaipur Literary Festival on his directorial venture, Aamir Khan in his true style was quick to defend his irreverence for awards. "I had experienced a few things back home that weren't to my liking that's why I had stepped back from them," he said.

Will Aamir make his appearance at award functions or not, that's a million dollar question, however, it will not stop 'Taare Zameen Par' from getting honours.
