Femina Miss India South is Femina Miss India World 2008!

Femina Miss India South is Femina Miss India World 2008!

The evening of the Pantaloons Femina Miss India was full of glamour, entertainment and anxiety as the beautiful 28 contestants sashayed down the ramp to win the coveted beauty contest.

Looking absolutely stunning were the hosts for the evening! South superstar Madhavan along with the very gorgeous Diya Mirza played the perfect hosts for the evening. They sported stunning outfits designed by Ritu Kumar and Shaina NC.

The event which was a perfect test of beauty and brains for the contestants was graced by a panel of judges that comprised of actors like Tabu, Zeenat Aman, Katrina Kaif designers Rina Dhaka and JJ Vallaya, choreographer Shiamak Davar, ace journalist Arnab Goswami who posed ‘women oriented’ questions to the contestants.

The evening was star studded and the stars proved their worth by rendering absolutely electrifying performances! Sameera Reddy clad in a stunning red jump suit paid tribute to the dazzling yester year diva Zeenat Aman by performing on her 70’s dancer numbers while Bips set everybody’s heart racing as she lit her bidi on fire! However it was Kareena Kapoor who stole the show and made the audiences go Mauja Mauja with her Shakira-esque moves!

Of the 28 contestants, the five contestants who made it to the final round were Harshita Saxena, Tanvi Vyas, Parvathy Omanakuttan, Simran Kaur Mundi and Sangeeta Chauhan. All five were asked a common question and given 90 seconds to come up with a winning answer! ‘What is the cause of the rise in divorce rate in India. Is it western influence or something else’ was the question and the best answer definitely walked away with the crown!

It was 20 year old Parvathy Omanakuttan from Kerala who grabbed the crown as she left the audiences and judges spell bound with her million dollar reply! “Divorces are not a result of western influence. At the end of the day, it is we who decide whose worth us. Marriage is not when one completes the other but is when both share their completeness” said the youngster thus evoking a roaring applause. The youngster walked away with the top honour of winning ‘Femina Miss India World 2008’, while the other two winners were Harshita Saxena, who was crowned as Pantaloons Femina Miss Earth 2008 and Simran Kaur Mundi who became the Femina Miss India Universe 2008.

The event had few light moments too of which the two which left us in fits of laughter were 1 – when a nervous contestant addressed Katrina as ‘Katrina’s Kaif’ and 2 – when Madhavan in his true witty self commented, rather criticized the contestants for the over-usage of ‘COMPASSION’ in their answers!

Over all, The Pantaloons Femina Miss India event was one magical night for not just the contestants and winners but also the audiences who got to see a paisa vasool show!

AHMEDABAD, April 5: Like all aspiring models and actresses, the glamour of Bollywood has also bowled over Jeanne Kietzmann and Sharmone Jardim. And now, they are planning to have a go at it when their better halves are busy playing in the Indian Premier League starting April 14.

A part-time actress and model Jeanne will be based in Bangalore for the whole period when her boyfriend Dale Steyn battles it out for the Bangalore team in IPL. In an informal chat with TOI she expressed that she wants to try her luck in Bollywood.

"IPL matches would last for just three hours so I plan to devote rest of my time getting in touch with advertising agencies in Mumbai. Let’s see how it works out," said the 21-year-old. Showing confidence about her talent, Jeanne said that working in Hindi films would be a challenging but interesting job.

"Along with my blonde looks and different eye shade I think I have ample opportunity to bag a role here and I hope my modelling experience will stand me in good stead when I go hunting for an assignment."

Her companion, Sharmone, girlfriend of middle-order bat Jacques Kallis is also keeping a close watch on all that is going on in tinsel town. And for someone who has done modelling in Italy, Germany and France, Sharmone believes that she has lots to offer to Bollywood apart from just beauty and different looks.

"I have been in this profession for 10 years now and hence along with experience I can bring certain amount of freshness," said the blonde model who has hosted a reality show.

Khuda Ke Liye : Movie Review

Khuda Ke Liye : Movie Review

Pakistani film ‘Khuda Ke Liye’ tells an engrossing, multi-layered story that pits the opinion of the moderate, tolerant Muslims against the fundamentalist ones.

I remember getting blown away by Pakistani director Sabiha Sumer’s excellent film ‘Khamosh Pani’ a couple of years ago. The movie told the story of a youth in rural Pakistan who falls under the influence of fundamentalists, and turns his back to his mother and his lover.

Shoaib Mansoor’s film Khuda Ke Liye goes a step further. Not only does it show a young man’s transition to fundamentalist beliefs, the movie gives it a deeper perspective by pitching in the voice of moderate Muslims as well. In fact, it can be safely said that the protagonist of ‘Khuda Ke Liye’ is a modern, liberal-minded, tolerant Muslim.

While the film’s introspective theme takes a look within the contemporary Pakistani society and shows the wedge between the moderates and extremists, it also brings to the fore the less-acknowledged truth that Muslims are being viewed with increasing suspicion in the West. All it takes for you to become a terror suspect is be a Muslim, even though a progressive and moderate one.

Besides this, the film also highlights the double standards in the largely patriarchal Pakistani Muslim society where women have to follow what men decide for them, even against their wishes.

Laden with such relevant issues, ‘Khuda Ke Liye’ turns out to be a film that not just entertains you, but it raises questions in your mind about the denigration and hypocrisy in society and religion.

The movie tells the story of two brothers – Mansoor (Shaan) and Sarmad (Fawad Khan) – who are into music. The younger one, Sarmad, falls under the influence of a fanatic maulana who brainwashes the young man and turns him into a radical. Sarmad quits music, grows a beard, gives up the western lifestyle and follows what he thinks is the life of a devout Muslim.

Mansoor, on the other hand, goes to the US for higher studies in music. But things change after 9/11. Mansoor is picked up by the authorities in the US as a possible terror suspect.

In between, there is a heart-rending tale of Mary (Iman Ali), a British girl of Pakistani origin, who is brought back to Pakistan by her father who wants to forcibly marry her to a Pakistani man of his choice because he doesn’t want her to form any relation with her English boyfriend despite the fact that the father himself is in a relationship with a British woman.

Mary’s domineering father is content in dumping his daughter with a fundamentalist Sarmad in the tribal regions of Wazirstan, than marry her off to a non-Muslim Briton.

These three stories are intertwined in a meaningful and crafty way. And in the end comes a courtroom drama that questions the distorted view of Islam propagated by the radicals.

The movie has fine performances from its male cast, particularly Shaan. Fawad manages to portray well the dilemma and radicalization of a strayed youth. Iman Ali takes some time to register an impact. Naseeruddin Shah has a brief appearance as a devout cleric with a progressive, liberal view of Islam.

The film’s music and songs are mesmerizing, particularly ‘Allah Ho’ and ‘Bandeya’. Technically, it is a fairly good movie with a few glitches that can be ignored.

What stands out though is Shoaib Mansoor’s honest intention, and his deft handling of a serious, sensitive and pertinent subject.

Kareena & Saif will marry after 25 April

It seems like Bebo and Chhote Nawab, who made their relationship public last year, can't wait to any longer to get together and their wedding could take place after the release of Tashan on April 25.

“Yes, I am going to get married very soon. Initially, Saif and I thought of giving our relationship some time before we get married. But now I don’t think either of us can wait any longer. So may be, post the release of Tashan this month, you all can see us wedded,” she told the press.

Bebo also refuted the rumours of their secret marriage saying, "Geeting married secretly was just a silly rumour. Why would I hide if I had gotten married? That would be the day for me. Only I know how I’m looking forward to it.”

Incidentally, it was on the sets of Tashan that the two fell in love. To prove his prove Saif even got her name tattooed on his arm.

"It's true, we came closer on sets of Tashan and that's the reason it will always be close to my heart. It was during this time that, Saif took me out for a candlelit dinner and proposed to me. By then I was too much in love with him to have said no,” told Kareena.

So will she continue working in films or take a long sabbatical like her contemporaries?

"Why would I stop working after marriage," she asks. "Today I’ve already reached the Rs 3.5 crore package and I hope to work and earn more in the coming years. In fact I already have some big projects in hand which are slated to release by the year-end."

2008 Femina Miss India contestants with children of NGO

Beauty with a difference

2008 Femina Miss India contestants with children of NGO -- Vatsya Foundation

The 2008 Femina Miss India Finalists have been round the clock in perparation for D-day. But besides being women of substance, they also know how to let their hair down and have some fun. After putting in all the gruelling work for the upcoming Femina Miss India '08, the 29 finalists found some time to relax.

Recently the girls had the chance to have some fun at a dicotheque and also had a one-on-one session with the Bollywood hunk -- Arjun Rampal -- who was a big hit with the girls. When asked for his opinion on the pageant Arjun Rampal said, "It's really great. I think the Miss India toady is one of the pageants which we really do feel proud of because we've been very successful."

On the other hand the Femina Miss India finalists, not only know how to paint the town red, but also managed to spend some time visiting the Vatsya Foundation; a home for street children and spent some quality time with the kids there. While at the Vatsya Foundation, the girls were also given a run for their money by the kids, who showed them some groovy dance moves and proved that the girls are not the only ones who know how to dance.

When quizzed about the experience with the kids at the Vatsya Foundation, Femina MIss India finalist Tanvi Vyas said, "I feel very nice. We didnt really expect this. This is the first time that I have been to an NGO and I love it. I love the immesne talent present here and I definitely want to come back and have a meet with the kids again."

The Femina Miss India contestants seem to be a combination of beauty, brains and heart this year. With Miss India finals just around the corner, one can now only wait and watch what other surprises the girls have in store.

Vidya lonely & waiting for Love

Vidya lonely & waiting for Love

With two bumper hits in her kitty Vidya Balan's career is going great guns. Lots of commercial successes. Plenty to smile about. "I was very happy about all my five releases in 2007, though some of them didn't do well.

From the very start when Dada (Pradeep Sarkar) showed so much faith in me by giving me Parineeta the industry has made a substantial space for me. By the grace of God, there're lots of interesting roles happening.

I'm in the process of signing some more. Since I came to cinema my criteria for signing a role remains unchanged. I've never been in a hurry to get anywhere.

Things are happening at a pace I'm enjoying. And I'm not insecure. Jo hoga achcha hi hoga."

She ponders for a few seconds as kids approach her for her autograph at the airport. Then she says, I don't regret anything. I'm a hopeless optimist. I feel what I've to go through will happen regardless of how much I fight it."

The industry is looking at Akshay Kumar and Vidya as a hit jodi after Heyy Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiya. "I'd love for us to be seen that way.

Even Katrina-Akshay too look great together. I'd love to work with Akshay again. Yes, we've offers together. He's a great co-star. The icing on the cake is our films together have worked."

In Bhool Bhulaiya Vidya invested demoniacal energy.

"Yes, it was a frightening experience. My director Priyadarshan handled the last 20 minutes of the story when I get into a supernatural rage of dance, very intelligently. I love Priyan. He's a man of few words. We even converse in Malayalam."

This year Vidya was supposed to do another film with Priyan. "But there's a problem with the leading man. I'd love to work with Priyan again. I've been fortunate in the fact that directors have signed me more than once."

So is she doing her Heyy Babby director Sajid Khan's film? "There's been no formal talk on this. Sajid hasn't offered me the role. I've been reading reports that I'm doing the film.

Right now he's writing his next film…I'm lucky to be a part of the movie industry when leading ladies are no longer decorative. It's providential that I started with Parineeta."

She gets sentimental about Pradeep Sarkar. "Staying away from his second film Laga Chunari Mein Daag was unbearable for me. I want to be part of his next film for sure.

Any hopes for 2008? "Add some spice to my own life and not wait for others to do it for me. I would like love to happen. But I'm not holding my breath for it. Yes,there're times when I get lonely. But most of the time I'm quite happy being with my family and myself."

Unlike Preity Zinta Vidya has made no pledge to stay away from actors in her personal life.

"Some people are doctors, others are actors. My companion can be from any walk of life. If he's an actor we can both carry our own mirrors to the sets and be narcissistic individually.

And we can have mirrors all over the house. Instead of looking into each other's eyes we can look into the mirrors," Vidya jokes and flies off to another destination.

'U Me aur Hum' -- straight from Ajay's heart

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan making his directorial debut with 'U Me aur Hum,' scheduled to release later this month, says his maiden project brings out the positivity of relationship between a husband and wife.

Ajay who is paired opposite his actress wife of nine years Kajol in the film said it was a simple love story about a man who marries a girl he loves and overcomes all hurdles to maintain the relationship.

"The film doesn't give a sermon on relationships. The audiences will identify with the scharacters. What is different in the subject is that the film looks at the institution of marriage in a positive way," the actor said.

"A lot of people question the institution of marriage, or blame it when problems arise. I feel that in a marriage, or any relationship for that matter, problems are inevitable.

'Giving up' should be our last option. However, an increasing number of people just prefer to give up at the first sign of trouble, Devgan said.

The actor who began his career with action packed roles, said he felt that relationships, especially marriages need to be nurtured with love, sensitivity and understanding.

"People keep asking me what inspired me to chose this subject and direct a film. To be honest, this is a story straight from my heart. A story which I strongly believed in," he told reporters here on Monday night.

John Abraham returns to comedy

John Abraham returns to comedy

Isn’t it strange that John Abraham hasn’t done much comedy in his acting career?

It was years ago when John showed his comic flair in Priyadarshan’s laugh-riot Garam Masala . Though the actor was overshadowed by the more competent Akshay Kumar in the film, he still managed to tickle the funny bone in a few scenes.

Now, John is set to return to comedy in the UTV film Hook Ya Crook to be directed by David Dhawan .

The movie, it is learnt, tells the story of a crook behind bars in a maximum security prison. John will reportedly play the part. The story is written by Rensil D’Silva.

This would be the first time when John would be directed by David Dhawan.

John is presently shooting for Karan Johar’s production Dostana . He will shoot for Dhawan’s film after completing Johar’s movie.

India's Big cinema chain in US

India's Big cinema chain in US

Anil Ambani promoted Reliance Entertainment Pvt Ltd (REPL) is all set to start its cinema chain in the US under the brand name Big from next month. More than 200 theatres will screen Hindi as well as regional films from India.

Confirming the schedule, a company official said: "We are still renovating and refitting the cinemas we have acquired in some cities there. A formal announcement about their opening will be made later."

Over the last one year, Reliance Entertainment has acquired over 200 cinema halls in 28 North American cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit and Washington.

Taken on a long-term lease, these theatres will bear the company's entertainment brand name Big, and not Adlabs, as REPL's cinemas in India are called.

It is learnt that REPL has also bought over an American theatre management firm to oversee the operations of its Big cinema chain.

REPL may also distribute movies overseas. Since it is already into producing movies in Hindi and other Indian regional languages under the Big Pictures banner, its exhibition outlets abroad will help it firm up its distribution venture.

In order to expand its overseas exhibition network, the company is now scouting for more cinema halls in other countries as well.

The Big cinema chain in the US will not only screen Bollywood movies, but will also run Indian regional language movies, particularly the productions from the south, and movies from other Asian countries to cater to large expatriate populations.

These 200-odd cinema halls are located in cities where there are large concentrations of people from the Indian subcontinent and other parts of Asia.

The chain will be marketed as any other American cinema chain. Mainstream Hollywood movies, art house productions and movies made by the independent producers will also adorn the marques of the Big cinemas.

REPL's cinema operations in the US, spread across different cities, will go a long way in making the presence of the Bollywood movies, in particular, more prominent there and help them reap good harvest from the US box-office.

Already, some recent Bollywood movies have made it to the top of the US box-office chart. UTV-distributed Tip Films' Race, for example, has secured 18th position in the US box-office in the first week of its release on 96 screens.

Saif, Madhuri part of the Bachchan concert

Saif, Madhuri part of the Bachchan concert

The "Unforgettable" concerts in July that will see the Bachchan clan of Bollywood perform live across Europe and United States have new glamour quotient.

Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit (Nene) will join Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai at different venues across Britain and the US, a source close to the family said.

Riteish Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu and Akshay Kumar are also part of the entourage.

"Saif and Shahid showed absolutely no hesitation in joining the Bachchans on their tour. The price being offered was fine and the dates for venues where they'll perform also worked out to their convenience. As for Madhuri, it would be the easiest thing in the world to join the Bachchans for the concerts in the US because that's where she lives," the source said.

Lara Dutta had opted out of the concert earlier. "There's much more to

Kangana Ranaut in a romantic flick with Sanjay Dutt

Kangana Ranaut in a romantic flick with Sanjay Dutt

For the first time, actress Kangana Ranaut is set to pair with Sanjay Dutt in a romantic movie.

There is quite an age difference between the two actors. But that didn’t deter producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to sign Kangana and Sanjay for a candy-floss romantic film to be directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru.

The movie will have one more heroine who is yet to be finalized. The shooting will take place in India and the US.

Reports have it that Kangana’s dates have been figured out for the film’s shooting schedule but Dutt’s dates have yet to be sorted out.

Kangana is presently busy with Madhur Bhandarkar’s film Fashion . She has also signed Raaz 2 opposite Emraan Hashmi and ‘The Kites’ opposite Hrithik Roshan .

Sanjay Dutt, on the other hand, has a number of projects up his sleeve, including the action thriller Blue . That is why his dates haven’t been worked out yet for the T-Series project.

Beware the Bollywood pranksters!

Beware the Bollywood pranksters!

Filmmaking is serious business. Even so, all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, remember?

And so pranksters like Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgan turn the atmosphere, on the sets, all fun and games with their treasure trove of never-ending practical jokes.

On April Fool's Day, rediff.com thought it appropriate to list instances when stars made bakras out of their colleagues.

We start with Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, who make quite a hit team on screen. Both their films together -- Heyy Babyy and Bhool Bhulaiyaa hit the jackpot.

Ditto for the Khiladi's super-successful prank on the gullible actress.

During the making of Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Akki discovered Vidya's mobile phone unattended. He grabbed this perfect opportunity to send a mischievous, not-so-nice SMS to the dance director.

The latter gave a stinging reply, which irked the Parineeta beauty no end. She gave the poor choreographer a dressing down, only to later realise this was Akki's idea of a joke.

Overall, I like Kareena Kapoor: Darsheel Safary

Though he's 11 and blissfully well-adjusted in his family of mom dad sister school studies and play, Darsheel Safary effortlessly plays a 9-year old sullen bewildered dyslexic in Aamir Khan's national favourite Taare Zameen Par (TZP).

In real, Darsheel is just another brat trying to come to terms with being called a super-actor and the best debutant of 2007. He shows super-confidence as he talks about his role, the film and of course Aamir Khan. read more

Ranbir blew kiss to Deepika!!!

When Ranbir blew kiss to Deepika!!!

Making his love interest clear, 'Saawariya' star Ranbir Kapoor blew a kiss straight from the ramp to actress Deepika Padukone.

Attired in a black and beige 'sherwani' or Indian-style coat with intricate ethnic motifs at the hemline and sequin work at the collars, the star walked the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) ramp for designer Arjun Khanna here late Saturday.

The sherwani was tastefully teamed with beige churidar and red scarf to give a dramatic effect, the actor's face and hair were painted golden.

'Before I came here I didn't know that my face would be painted golden. Only when I reached the venue and sat on a chair (backstage) to get the make-up done, I got to know about it. But I enjoyed the whole experience,' Ranbir told after the show.

He refused to comment on his romantic link-up with Deepika. Starting with his signature dance step from the title song of 'Saawariya', Ranbir descended on the runway.

And then he spotted Deepika sitting next to his mother Neetu Singh. Cutting short his catwalk, he blew a flying kiss towards her. Deepika blushed and hid her face behind her cascade of hair.

While Deepika sported a light grey tube top with abstract prints matched with slim fit dark blue jeans, yesteryear actress Neetu Singh was decked in white trousers and a kurta top with white, red and blue geometric prints and Swarovski work at the neckline.

'There couldn't have a better confession of love than this. Ranbir made it clear at the LFW that Deepika is his love interest,' said Rashmi Singh, who attended the show.

Unlike his contemporaries, Ranbir did not take expert advice from his ladylove, who was a model by profession. 'No I did not take any tips from Deepika before walking the ramp. I had never walked the ramp before. It was the first time for me but I was quite confident. It proved to be an excellent experience,' Ranbir said.

'Moreover, the Indian fashion industry is growing very fast and if I can contribute a little to it, it would be great,' he added.

When asked how fashion conscious he is, Ranbir said: 'I am not fashionable at all. My knowledge about fashion is only through Arjun. Fashion for me is being comfortable.'

After the show, Deepika left the venue with Neetu in the same car.

The five-day fashion extravaganza at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) would end on April 2. Fifty-seven designers, established and new, including the likes of Narendra Kumar, Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Neeta Lulla, Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Wendell Rodricks will show their collections.

'Taare Zameen Par' writer wants to work with Salman Khan

'Taare Zameen Par' writer wants to work with Salman Khan

Amole Gupte , the writer of Taare Zameen Par , is ready with another story which he wants to direct himself.

The film is titled India Item and it will once again revolve around a children’s issue. Having spent many years of his life with children, particularly the disadvantaged ones, Amole is brimming with ideas that aim to bring to light various issues regarding kids.

‘India Item’ will reportedly have roller skating as its backdrop.

Amole is not going to work with Aamir Khan this time. He still hasn’t forgiven, or at least forgotten, the way he was relegated from the director to creative director of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ after Aamir decided to take the directorial reigns himself.

However, for ‘India Item’, Amole is eager to work with Salman Khan .

Amole says he wants to work with Salman not because he is a big star, but because, in Amole’s opinion, he (Salman) cares a lot about social issues.

Even though Salman hasn’t yet given his nod to the film, Amole says he will begin shooting his film in June.

Bollywood razzmatazz adds luster to Lakme Fashion Week

The razzle-dazzle of Bollywood actors added excitement and sheen to the opening day of the Lakme Fashion Week in South Mumbai.

The fashion extravaganza kicked off on Saturday at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai with designer J J Valaya ’s latest collection. But the show that drew maximum crowd from tinsel town was by Manish Malhotra . And actor Ranbir Kapoor made his ramp debut in a show by Arjun Khanna.

Celebrities like Saif Ali Khan , Kareena Kapoor , Deepika Padukone , Neetu Singh, Urmila Matondkar , Amrita Rao , Gauri Khan and Kajol admired the collections showcased on the ramp.

Saif and Kareena themselves made a fashion statement as they walked in the auditorium hand-in-hand. Saif was casually dressed in a T-shirt and jeans while Kareena looking gorgeous in an orange halter top.

But the moment of the day was when Ranbir Kapoor, dressed in an embroidered sherwani by Arjun Khanna, walked the ramp. Ranbir sported a stubble and had put on some greasepaint to look rugged.

Girlfriend Deepika and mom Neetu Singh cheered from the first row as Ranbir walked the ramp with the grace of a prince. As Ranbir passed by Deepika, he blew a flying kiss to her.

Deepika was apparently so impressed with Ranbir’s ramp debut that she couldn’t resist rushing backstage to hug him after the show. Guess the lovers don’t care to restrain themselves now that mom Neetu Singh approves of the relationship.

Lakme Fashion Week will be a five-day fashion extravaganza with over fifty designers showcasing their creations. The prominent designers at the event will be Sabyasachi Mukherjee , Neeta Lulla , Narendra Kumar, Nandita Mahtani and Pria Kataria Puri. Nine emerging designer will also take part in the event.

‘I can sing, act... & I love Bollywood’

‘I can sing, act... & I love Bollywood’

Brett Lee is a little bit like IPL – an irresistible mix of aggressive cricket, showbusiness, music and glamour. But for Brett, it all begins and ends with the game.

At the age of 10, he dreamt of being the fastest bowler in the world. At 29, he bowled his fastest delivery, and the second fastest in the world, at a whooshing 160.8 kmph, in his first over on March 5, 2005 at Napier, New Zealand, against Craig Cumming. “It was like a dream come true!” he says, smiling.

After a good Australian summer, Brett’s looking forward to an Indian summer now. “I will be in Mohali in two weeks’ time and I’m really excited about it. I made my Test debut against India and I have always been very fond of this country,” he says. His plan is to get closer to people who watch and love cricket. “We have to get up, close and personal with everyone who appreciates the game,” he says. “It is the T20 format and so I’m sure it will be fun to play and watch the matches as well. All the teams have good players, but our strategy is to give our best shot.”

But cricket is not all that Lee is looking forward to here. “Every time I visited India in the past, I never got a chance to discover the country. So this time, I want to see different places, eat a lot of Indian food and meet lots of people. Sounds like a plan?” Sure does, Binga. That’s right – Binga is Brett’s nickname. “It comes from this chain of electronics stores in New South Wales called Bing Lee,” he laughs.

His elder brother Shane introduced him to cricket at the age of eight, and the game is the love of Lee’s life. “I can’t imagine myself doing anything else apart from playing cricket. I do love music, though,” he says. Brett’s younger brother Grant is a musician, and Brett’s learnt to play the piano. He also plays bass in the band Six & Out, which comprises his brother Shane and former New South Wales cricketers Brad McNamara, Gavin Robertson and Richard Chee Quee.

And there’s yet more to this cricketer – he also loves Bollywood movies! “Oh, I love Bollywood. It’s so alive, and the movies are brilliant. I would love to work in one myself. I can sing and hopefully act too. The only thing I’ll have to work on is my dancing.” So a little brushing up his moves and Lee is ready to do a typical commercial Hindi movie. “You bet! Victoria will be my debut in Bollywood. I had a lot of fun shooting for some scenes in the movie.”

And while we’re on Bollywood, how does he like Preity Zinta, who co-owns the Mohali team? “She’s a fantastic actress,” he enthuses. “I’ve seen most of her movies. She has proved herself and she’s one of the most popular Indian actresses around the world. And as a person, she is very down to earth, full of life and very professional.”

But amidst all this camaraderie, what about the tension between the Indian and Australian cricket teams? “I agree that there have been a couple of incidences, but when you compete with another team, there are bound to be heated words here and there,” Brett says. “It isn’t personal. Too much has been written about it and it’s been blown out of proportion. If there are issues, let the teams sort things out. There is a lot of camaraderie in the game of cricket and stuff like this dies a natural death,” he explains.

Cricket, Bollywood, music – it’s no surprise that Brett has a female fan following that puts some of our Bollywood hunks to shame. But sorry girls, the man’s taken. Brett married Elizabeth Kemp, a podiatrist, in June 2006. They also have a son named Preston Charles. “You never know, he might be the world’s fastest bowler tomorrow. At least I’ll introduce him to cricket, for sure,” he smiles.

Tanisha irritated with Sameera!

Now this one is really funny. Sameera was shooting with Tanisha for 123 and she accidentally stepped on Tanisha's toes. And the next scene required Tanisha to hit Sameera with a soft board rod on her head. Since Sameera had hurt Tanisha, though unintentionally, she was sure that Tanisha would take her revenge, so every time, Tanisha tried to hit her, Sameera would move out, fearing for the worst. The director ended by taking 15 retakes before the shot was okay and Tanisha was obviously very irritated. But then, all's well that ends well, what say? read more

Lewd Nana shocks Tanushree Dutta!

Lewd Nana shocks Tanushree Dutta!

"We've been through hell, and back. My car is smashed to pieces due to mob fury. But what has happened to my dignity and selfrespect and my identity as a woman are irreparable," the shaken actress said on Thursday afternoon.

It all started when Tanushree was approached to do an item song for Rakesh Sarang's Horn Ok Please.

"I made it clear to the producer director and choreographer Ganesh Acharya that I'm not a run-of-the-mill item girl. I was very particular about my clothes and movements. We rehearsed for nearly a week for the song. And now they're saying I was uncooperative and not ready to rehearse."

What awaited Tanushree on the set was four days of horror. "From the start I wasn't comfortable with Nana Patekar's presence. In fact after the first day of shooting I told my mother something didn't feel right there.

Nana had just three words O yara re in the song. Still he insisted on being around throughout. That was fine. He's the film's hero and it's his prerogative. But then he started acting hugely aggressive.

Instead of the choreographer Nana started showing me the steps. I don't know since we has become an expert dancer."

Tanushree made her displeasure at the actor's intervention very clear. "A couple of times I pushed his hands away when he got too close for comfort. But it didn't seem to make a difference to him.

He continued to direct my steps roughly and aggressively. Things got really out of hand when Ganesh incorporated steps where Nana could get physically close to me."

That's when the actress chose to walk off the set and locked herself up in her van. "Not for three hours, as they reported on the tv channels. But for 90 minutes.

They called up Mr Pehlaj Nihalani to intervene and he told them to change the steps if being a girl they made me uncomfortable. I finally came out of my van…only to be told they won't change the steps. Why? Was it Valmiki's Ramayan that every word had to be faithful?

I think the poroducer, director and choreographer had decided to teach me a lesson. They threatened to call the media on the sets and proclaim I was uncooperative. I didn't know how serious they were. Nana apparently had left by then."

Tanushree decided to leave too. "But my car with my parents in it was surrounded by hordes of tv journalists. When they couldn't get a sound bite from me they pushed themselves into the front seat of my car.

When that didn't work they began banging on the windshield with their cameras. My parents and I were trapped inside my car.

Anything could've happened. We frantically tried to call the producer and director. They had both switched off their mobiles."

Finally someone had the presence of mind to inform the cops. That's when Tanushree and her parent's nightmare ended.

The Duttas have lodged an FIR against those who allegedly attacked them in her car at the Goregaon police station.

"What I want to know is, where was the security at Filmistan studio when I was attacked? Where was the producer and director?

They've wasted no time in replacing me with Rakhi Sawant for the song and labeling me uncooperative. But why did they realize how unprofessional I was on the fourth day?

Can they get others in the film industry to accuse me of undisciplined behaviour? Or did they think they could mess with me and manhandle me just because I'm a girl?"

Finally, Rakhi to shake a leg with Nana

The story goes like this; Tanushree was signed by the makers of HORN OK PLEASE for an item number with Nana Patekar, who plays the lead in the movie. It seems the pretty actress started throwing tantrums from the very first day. Right from the rehearsal on the first day she had some or the other issues, as per the reports in the media. Even the makers of the movie reportedly revealed that she was well informed in advance about the item song. But once they started rehearsing she objected on a few dance steps. These dance steps required the dancers to touch her, but she claimed that Nana Patekar and other crewmembers were touching her inappropriately. read more

One Two Three : Movie Review

One Two Three : Movie Review

One Two Three has a storyline that could have been developed into a laugh riot. Alas, unimaginative and unskilled handling of the subject by director Ashwani Dhir makes it nothing more than an average, dull comedy.

The movie’s plot is pregnant with possibilities of truly humourous situations. But the script-writer and director have not been able to turn the possibilities into reality. Reason? The immature and imbecilic gags fail to rise to the requirement of the comic situations in the movie. Barring a few funny scenes, the jokes in the movie are either outdated or poorly conceived, hence non-functional.

Coupled with this is Ashwani Dhir’s slipshod direction, his poor handling of the characters, and his inability to extract performances from his cast. Not that a share of blame does not go to the cast. But we will come to that later.

On paper, the story of ‘One Two Three’ sounds quite appealing for a comedy film.

Three men with the same name go to a hotel at the same time. The first Laxmi Narayan ( Tusshar Kapoor ) is a wannabe don who wants to prove his killer instinct by bumping off a dreaded gangster called Papa (Mukesh Tiwari) at hotel Blue Diamond.

The second Laxmi Narayan ( Sunil Shetty ) is a seedha saadha, gutless and guileless fellow who comes to the same hotel to buy a vintage car for his boss from a showroom where a sexy sales executive Laila ( Sameera Reddy ) works.

The third Laxmi Narayan ( Paresh Rawal ) is an undergarment seller who comes to hotel to take samples of lingerie from designer Jiya ( Esha Deol ).

But due to the confusion of identities, the Laxmi Narayan who comes to kill the don ends up at the door-step of the lingerie designer, Jiya. The third Laxmi Narayan, who comes to take lingerie samples, ends up at the car showroom and expects Laila to show her undergarments to him. The second Laxmi Narayan, who comes to buy a car, ends up in don Papa’s den, only to be beaten black and blue by his henchmen.

To this melee of characters add two youths ( Upen Patel and Tanishaa ) who inexplicably keep flitting in and out of the camera frames. There is also a tough police officer Mayavati Chautala ( Neetu Chandra ) who is out to nab the lawbreakers.

And because a comedy film nowadays seems to be incomplete without a bunch of stolen diamonds, we have that angle too in ‘One Two Three’.

You see! There is a great scope of comedy in the film’s plot. But the opportunity is missed – rather messed up – because the script-writer could not come up with gags and oneliners funny enough. On top of it, the director is not able to build up the momentum and add vim and vigour that a comedy requires. The overlong commentary introducing the characters at the beginning of the film itself tends to get monotonous after a few minutes.

And the characters themselves (for instance, the rival dons, Manoj Pahwa and Mukesh Tiwari) border on caricature. Granted that ‘One Two Three’ is a no-brainer, but even the slapstick buffoonery ought to be hilarious.

The only saving grace of the film is Tusshar Kapoor, who manages to rise above the mediocre script and stand on his own. Paresh Rawal is not used to the optimum. Sunil Shetty keeps oscillating between a few select facial expressions. Esha Deol is just about okay. Sameera Reddy adds the oomph quotient. Neetu Chandra hams with no holds barred. Tanishaa and Upen Patel have insubstantial roles. Sanjay Mishra, as the don Papa’s henchman, does a nice mimicry of yesteryear actor Jeevan.

It is hard to believe that ‘One Two Three’ is a film directed by the same man who gave us the immensely enjoyable serial ‘Office Office’ on television. The movie doesn’t have even half the amount of wit that we saw in the sarcastically humorous teleserial.

Tanushree Dutta accuses Nana Patekar of misbehaviour

Tanushree Dutta accuses Nana Patekar of misbehaviour

Two days after she refused to shoot a raunchy item song for film Horn Ok Please , actress Tanushree Dutta explains the reasons behind her action.

Tanushree has been at the centre of a controversy regarding her fallout with the unit of ‘Horn Ok Please’ and her fracas with the media on Thursday evening.

In a media interview, Tanushree has revealed her side of the story.

According to Tanushree, the film’s leading man Nana Patekar showed more than casual interest in the song even though he had just three words in the track. Tanushree says Nana’s presence during the rehearsals made her uncomfortable.

The actress says at first she did not mind because Nana kept his distance. But then Nana began showing her the steps she should do in the song. Tanushree alleges that at times Nana came so close to her that she had to push his hands away.

And when choreographer Ganesh Acharya decided to incorporate Nana’s dance steps into the song, the steps in which Nana had to touch and fondle her, Tanushree says she lost her patience and went to her vanity van and refused to shoot.

That is when, according to her, the film’s producer and director called the media and told them that Tanushree was acting unprofessional.

Responding to Tanushree’s accusation, Nana Patekar says she is like “a bachchi” to him. He says that being the film’s leading man he had the right to be on the sets during the rehearsals.

The film’s director Rakesh Sarang, producer Abdul Siddique and choreographer Ganesh Acharya are siding with Nana and accusing Tanushree of being “unprofessional”, “egoistic” and having “an attitude problem”.

The song is now being shot on Rakhi Sawant instead.

Sonam Ki Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

Sonam Ki Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

At last, Sonam Kapoor has a reason to smile. Despite her Saawariya debacle, Aditya Chopra has signed her for SRK's next Yash Raj venture Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

The King Khan was last paired with another 22-year-old debutante Deepika Padukone in his last film Om Shanti Om. But unlike OSO, the script for Aditya Chopra's film mandates the massive age difference since it focuses on the love between a 40-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl.

Extensive talent hunts were organised by Yashraj Films to scout for just the right girl with the authentic Punjabi look who will play a 16-year-old in the film. Hundreds of authentic Punjabi kudis participated in the auditions held in Punjab.

In fact, Aditya Chopra himself went through the shortlist, but found no one suitable. He was indeed very finicky about signing the right girl because he was making his comeback to direction after a gap of eight years and wanted to get everything perfect.

After all his talent hunts led to a dead end, Adi spoke to Anil Kapoor, who was more than glad to have Sonam get into the Yashraj camp, that too directed by none other that Adi himself.

The film will be shot extensively in Greece, Australia and Dubai and will release by the end of 2008.

Saif Ali Khan refuses 30 crore offer!

Saif Ali Khan refuses 30 crore offer!

Post, Race, Saif Ali Khan's career is racing ahead and is on a roll, but besides that, what was more bizarre was when he recently refused a lucrative, whopping 30 crore deal offered to him by a leading corporate houses.

"Just after the release of Race, a leading corporate house approached him with a 30 crore deal, but to their surprise, he turned down the offer saying, he's not interested in money right now and what he's looking for is good work. Money can and never will come in the way of his good work. He has never run after money and after the super duper success of Race (the biggest opening after Om Shanti Om) in recent time, he knows, big offers will keep pouring in, but he's extremely cautious about the kind of work he should take up," says a friend of the actor.

And when we asked Saif for his comments, he admitted that he turned down the offer as he doesn't want to take up more work. And he has always believed in doing 2 or 3 films in a year. "I have been taken seriously now and they say I'm salable actor, I choose to believe this. I'm serious enough to be signed with lots of money and interesting performances, that's all what I want. I will continue to do films at my pace and that's why I have got into production. The objective is to make commercial, highly entertaining and challenging movies," he says.

The press has condemned Bollywood starlet Tanushree Dutta, without even reporting any side of the story let alone both. The director has booted her off the set, with an alacrity that would make Donald Trump look like a procrastinator. Tanushree herself refuses to speak.

It is wise to keep your mouth shut if you have nothing to say in your defense but mostly people don't speak when they are afraid of the repercussions.

So what really happened on set of Horn OK Please at Filmistan Studio, Wednesday, March 26?

We think Bollywood has a plot for its next pot boiler, because we smell a stink!

The TV channels are gleefully reporting that Tanushree has been booted out of the film. and replaced by Rakhee Sawant.

One channel, that we monitored yesterday evening, encouraged Ms Sawant to bad mouth Tanushree and espouse the virtues of the press for good 15 minutes. We cannot recollect when the Chief of the Army Staff, who is responsible for the security of our nation, was allowed 15 minutes of air time.

Good lord! They could get no one better than Rakhee Sawant to speak about the virtues of the press!

In its report a national news agency, without bothering to report on the sequence of events, said a member of Tanushree Dutta's security detail molested a press reporter.

The report actually wants us to believe that in the middle of the fracas the man had a surge of hormones and turned uncontrollably randy and began to molest a female reporter! To us it sounds like concoction of a delirious mind.

What is clear to us is that the press, including the national TV channels, are out for blood. Not the blood of a serial killer on the loose or a top ranked terrorist. They are after the blood of Tanushree Dutta, all of 24 year-old and 5' 7."

We reported the incident based on what our photog saw yesterday, hours after the incident occurred. We are sticking by our report because we have no reason to believe our report was inaccurate.

Going by what we know, Tanushree Dutta has a right to say no to any physical contact that she considers inappropriate, no matter who is making it or if it occurs in an item song.

She should not have been booted off the sets. Instead, the matter could have been resolved with more sensitivity - skin colored clothes, for example.

Forcing an unwelcome physical contact is tantamount to outraging the modesty of a lady and we have a problem with it.

If the modesty of press reporter was also outraged in a related incident, that too is reprehensible to us.

We think the press needs to be fighting two battles here. One for Tanushree Dutta and one for the reporter whose equipment was damaged / modesty outraged. We don't think Tanushree Dutta should be condemned for what her father or a member of the security detail did.

However, we don't know all the facts. Like we said before, we just smell a stink.

We would like all our readers, specially the female readers, to speak their mind on this issue.

Bachchan refrains from commenting on Pune land deal

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan said he would not comment on the controversial farm land deal near Pune as the matter was "subjudice".

"I cannot comment anything on the matter as it is subjudice," he said on the sidelines of IDEA IIFA Awards 2008 nominations function.

Aamir Khan at the Olympics Torch Relay

Coca-Cola India recently announced torchbearers for the Olympic Torch Relay and present among them was Aamir Khan.

The six torchbearers were from diverse fields like Cinema, Government, Corporate house, NGO, Science and grassroots. The criteria of selection involved short listing luminaries, who besides having excelled in their respective fields should have also demonstrated commitment to the cause of environment stewardship and Aamir was asked to represent Cinema.

Aamir who is also Coca-Cola's brand ambassador said, “I am delighted to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay. This truly is a rare privilege and an absolute honor. What makes this feeling even more special is that it has given me the opportunity to be associated with the world's greatest sporting event and at the same time also raise awareness to the cause of the environment. On behalf of Coca-Cola, I am delighted to announce the roll out of the company's latest environment awareness initiative. The countrywide program includes organizing painting competitions in schools on the theme “The Need To Protect Environment”. The initiative would involve thousands of students across India.”

All the selected environmental champions would run with the Olympic Torch as part of the worldwide Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. Saif climbs the ladder

Saif climbs the ladder

The industry always spoke of the three Khans when it spoke of star power -- Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman. Then Hrithik Roshan made it to the premium list and also Akshay Kumar. These five actors called the shots, commanded the best fee, while their films fetched incredible prices. Post RACE, Saif Ali Khan has joined the club.

Saif's talent was acknowledged long back; the actor has delivered sparkling performances in films like KAL HO NAA HO, EK HASINA THI, HUM TUM, SALAAM | NAMASTE, BEING CYRUS, OMKARA and EKLAVYA. But RACE has consolidated and cemented his status as a star with tremendous pull.

Although Saif is yet to penetrate into deeper pockets like SRK or Akshay, Saif is a certified crowd puller at bigger centres and at multiplexes specifically. Also, he has worked his way up in the Overseas territory. RACE, his new release, is his second biggest opener in several international markets, after KAL HO NAA HO [this writer has the international data to substantiate the statement]. Way to go!

Ranbir's Dad stuns Deepika!

Ranbir's Dad stuns Deepika!

It may take Rishi and Ranbir Kapoor some to find the right vehicle to showcase their mutual talent in a father-son combination.

But Ranbir's lady love Deepika Padukone already has that privilege. She will be sharing screen space with Rishi Kapoor in Saif Ali Khan's first production (yet untitled) which has Saif and Deepika in the lead.

Says Deepika, "I did a reading with Rishi Uncle for the film, and I was simply stunned. He's that good. Imtiaz's film will be a departure for me. I'm definitely looking forward to working with Saif. He's one of the best actors we've ever done."

But before that Deepika is currently shooting for Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk To China with Akshay Kumar. "I've trained in martial arts for the film. And I enjoyed myself thoroughly. Because I'm athletic.

People see me as very ladylike and proper. But there's another, very tomboyish side of me which you'll see in Chandni Chowk To China."

Her first post-Om Shanti Om release would be Yashraj Films's Bachna Ae Haseenon where she has to share her boyfriend with two other leading ladies.

"Yes. But that's only for the screen no?" she quips. "It's Ranbir's film all the way. In my very first narration I was sure I wanted to do it. Siddharth Anand suggested I take some time to decide.

But I liked his honesty and I loved my bit in the script. Siddharth was honest enough to tell me there were three other girls with Ranbir in the film—now of course there're only two other girls.

As an actor it's important for me to be part of projects I believe in even if my role is comparatively small."

Deepika has also completed two ads for Pepsi with Ranbir. "Now that I'm doing feature films doing ads feels different.

Just when I'm getting used to a leisurely pace of working again in an ad everything has to be crammed into a few minutes. But ads are fun. They remind me of my beginning."

Coming back to the Kapoors Deepika exults, "I'm lucky enough to work with both Ranbir and Rishi Uncle. Now all I need is a film with Neetu Aunty to complete the picture."

'Abhishek Bachchan excels in silent close-ups'

'Abhishek Bachchan excels in silent close-ups'

For those who have seen Sarkar , will most probably agree with the fact that Abhishek Bachchan excels in silent close-ups – a quality that Ram Gopal Varma has brought to the fore.

Recently, Abhishek took a day off from his hectic schedule to do some additional shooting for Varma's Sarkar Raj before he flew off to Miami to join Karan Johar 's Dostana .

According to Varma, "There were a few vital close-ups of Abhishek that I wanted to add to the film, so before anyone jumps to the conclusion that I re-shot my film, let me quickly clear the air. I think Abhishek excels in silent close-ups. Not too many actors of his generation know how to hold silences on camera. I made him do that in Naach . And I just thought a few tight close-ups would add to the drama in Sarkar Raj."

Varma added that Abhishek has given yet another riveting performance in ‘Sarkar Raj’ after Guru .

"I wouldn't even compare the two performances on any level except that intensity that Abhishek brings to both the roles. Abhishek and Aishwarya in ‘Sarkar Raj’ will be very different from ‘Guru’. And if you ask me, he has gone far beyond what he did in ‘Sarkar’."

‘Sarkar Raj’, that also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has Ash playing a manipulative and ruthless businesswoman who doesn’t care to bend the rules to make money from the people.

On the other hand, Abhishek’s character has shades of philanthropy. He, too, makes money, but for the people and not from them.

This basic ideological polarity is the difference between Ash and Abhishek in ‘Sarkar Raj’. Their characters are antagonistic to each other before their conflict takes a different turn and transforms into subdued romance.

Varma says ‘Sarkar Raj’ is a bigger film than its prequel. The movie doesn’t carry the old story forward, but takes a look at another episode in the Nagare family’s life.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has declined to co-star with Hollywood wonder boy Will Smith yet again!

Ash turns down Will Smith again

Two years ago, Smith offered her a role in his comedy Hitch which Ash could not accept due to time constraints. At that time, a besotted Smith who wanted to work with the beauty queen had said in an interview, “Aishwarya has this powerful energy and doesn’t have to say anything, or do anything, she can just stand there. Anything she’s making, I’ll be there.”

Since then, Aishwarya turned down two more Will Smith projects. “That’s true,” she laughed. “I had to say no to Will for The Seven Pounds and now again for Tonight He Comes (Smith’s super-hero flick re-named John Hancock). I feel awful about it. But I’ve my priorities. Family always comes first.”

Contrary to reports, Aishwarya didn’t decline the film to celebrate Karwa Chauth in Mumbai. “That’s what the Hollywood press wrote... that I preferred to return to Mumbai to ‘starve’ myself for a religious occasion than to meet Will. That’s incorrect. The script reading was just after Diwali when Dadima’s (Teji Bachchan’s) health dipped. So I didn’t make that trip for the reading with Will. Is that wrong? Not to me. I’d any day put family over career.”

Now Ash has said no to Tonight He Comes. “I couldn’t do it because of my schedules. Flying in and out of the country for a role is not what I want to do now,” she said. Are Ash and Will star-crossed? “When it has to happen it will happen. There’s something very charismatic about that actor. He gives off very nice vibes. He’s very adventurous as an actor. He did I Am Legend and Pursuit Of Happiness at the same time. He’s an actor, rapper, and a great family man. I like that.”

Wish Rani Mukherjee, a very Happy Birthday!

Wish Rani Mukherjee, a very Happy Birthday!

Today is the birthday of Rani Mukherjee, the undisputed and also the 'literal' Queen of Bollywood. There was a time when her husky voice was considered as 'non-saleable' and hence, was dubbed. But today, it's the same voice that has replaced the sound of her fans' heartbeats!

Having started her celluloid journey with Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, a non-starter, she survived… only to prove that hard work never ever goes unnoticed. And it's only this hard work that has made her reach the top slot in such a short span time.

And all you readers waste no time in wishing her a very Happy Birthday, simply by posting your messages below. So, go ahead, live life Rani Size…we mean 'Queen Size'!

Hrithik Roshan is literally knee-deep in work.

Hrithik’s doing his homework!

The actor, who has been advised three weeks of rest for his injured knee, is editing his item song for his home production 'Krazzy 4' from his Juhu residence. The item song, which is going to appear with the film’s end credits, is reported to be Hrithik’s best dance performance so far.

After having shot the song a few days ago, the actor wanted to personally supervise the editing. A crew member informs, "Yes, Hrithik is editing the song from home, and it’s almost ready. It’s the same title track sung by Vishal Dadlani for Shah Rukh Khan’s item number in the film. Hrithik is trying to be at home as much as he can as he is nursing his knee injury."

Despite having damaged his ligament and muscles while filming for Dhoom 2 followed by Jodhaa Akbar, the actor put in a spirited performance for the Krazzy 4 song. The story goes that the actor used to give his shot and then rest his legs in an elevated position on the sets just to avoid over exhaustion.

Our source further informs, "For the next three weeks, Hrithik can neither dance nor do any stunts. He keeps his legs in an elevated position whenever he is sitting."

However, contrary to reports, the actor is not heading to Geneva for a knee surgery yet. Papa Rakesh Roshan says, “Hrithik is very much in Mumbai and he is not undergoing any surgery for his knee.”

Shah Rukh Khan versus Bollywood!

Shah Rukh Khan versus Bollywood!

No one can deny the fact that Shah Rukh Khan is the biggest global superstar in the Hindi film industry. As is well known, King Khan has taken up another TV quiz show (after Kaun Banega Crorepati), which will run during prime time on the country's number 1 channel, across March end, April and May. It is given that the show, 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? ' will command record eyeballs for sure, especially during the initial episodes.

As is known, Shah Rukh Khan also owns a cricket team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkota Knight Riders, which will play Twenty20 competitions in which a record 59 matches will be played and telecast in April-May. Knowing the involvement of SRK and some of the other high profile members in IPL, it is naturally going to be a huge event that will command undivided attention of the cricket crazy nation.

So it is but obvious that both Shah Rukh's television show and the IPL cricket tournament will have an adverse effect on the films releasing during those times. And will take away the audience that might otherwise have bought tickets for entertainment purposes.

Well, on a serious note, its only the makers (who have cinematically inferior products) and media hyped stars who need to worry and will crib about these factors for the failure of their projects. There have been countless instances when audiences have thronged to the theatres despite the most hyped events. But then on many of those occasions, King Khan was on the right side of the fence for Bollywood!
