Sonam Ki Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
At last, Sonam Kapoor has a reason to smile. Despite her Saawariya debacle, Aditya Chopra has signed her for SRK's next Yash Raj venture Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.
The King Khan was last paired with another 22-year-old debutante Deepika Padukone in his last film Om Shanti Om. But unlike OSO, the script for Aditya Chopra's film mandates the massive age difference since it focuses on the love between a 40-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl.
Extensive talent hunts were organised by Yashraj Films to scout for just the right girl with the authentic Punjabi look who will play a 16-year-old in the film. Hundreds of authentic Punjabi kudis participated in the auditions held in Punjab.
In fact, Aditya Chopra himself went through the shortlist, but found no one suitable. He was indeed very finicky about signing the right girl because he was making his comeback to direction after a gap of eight years and wanted to get everything perfect.
After all his talent hunts led to a dead end, Adi spoke to Anil Kapoor, who was more than glad to have Sonam get into the Yashraj camp, that too directed by none other that Adi himself.
The film will be shot extensively in Greece, Australia and Dubai and will release by the end of 2008.
