Akshay Kumar: On his Filmfare Award nomination

Akshay Kumar: On his Filmfare Award nomination

How do you feel being nominated in the Best Actor category? Were you expecting it?
No I was expecting not to get any nomination... It has been many years that I haven't been nominated for awards, and I wasn't thinking they'd start now... On the contrary, I was starting to get the hint that maybe I wasn't award material...I guess I was wrong... which kind of makes it more rewarding; Must mean I did something right as it doesn't happen often...

What makes Namastey London so special to you?
The essence of the film being so real makes it special... the script originated from a story told to me by a friend... and it's all there in the film.... I loved the concept, and the script just added to its brilliance... from the music to the story to the eye opening lines, I think personally, Namastey London will always mean a lot to me, and I'm hoping to you guys too...

Who do you think is your toughest competitor in the category of Best Actor?
Hmmm let me think... Umm probably all the other best actors out there... I tend to just shut my eyes and like to live in my world, if you pay too much attention to everyone else you will never be the Best, you'll just end up competing with the guy next to you all the time!

If you win, how do you intend to celebrate?
Sleep early... get up next morning, train and try harder for the next movie....your awards are never remembered for long so there's no point in celebrating for more than the time it takes you to walk off the stage because already there will be someone there ready to take it off you.

Akshay Kumar plays the 'unbreakable' man?

Akshay Kumar plays the 'unbreakable' man?

By ApunKaChoice

It appears that Nagesh Kukunoor’s film Eight By Ten is inspired from Manoj Night Shyamalan’s thriller ‘Unbreakable’.

At the first glance, the similarities between the two films seem more than coincidental. In ‘Unbreakable’ Bruce Willis plays a man who remains unharmed in the most fatal of accidents because he is gifted with special powers that also enable him to look into the pasts of other people just by touching them.

In ‘Eight By Ten’, Akshay Kumar plays a psychological superhero with amazing mental powers. He can look into a person’s past or future by just staring at their photographs.

Rumour also has it that Akshay’s character in the film is a guy who cannot be hurt.

Moreover, even the climax of ‘Eight By Ten’ is set underwater, just like the climax of ‘Unbreakable’ in which Bruce Willis is thrown into a pool by a criminal holding a family hostage.

However, the chief of Percept Picture Company (the film’s banner) says ‘Eight By Ten’ is based on an original idea that has no similarity with Shyamalan’s film.

In fact, the makers of ‘Eight By Ten’ are so confident of their film that they are looking forward to release the movie on Diwali this year.

Besides Akshay Kumar, ‘Eight By Ten’ also stars Ayesha Takia .

Katrina Kaif in 'Blue'

Katrina Kaif in 'Blue'

Gorgeous Katrina Kaif seems to have made a place in the wishlists of many filmmakers.

The constantly rising actress has now signed a new film titled Blue . The film already stars Akshay Kumar and Lara Dutta .

Reportedly, Priyanka Chopra was first considered for the role of the film’s second heroine. However, the actress apparently did not want to start a fresh round of rumours linking her with Akshay. So she thought it better not to do this film with Akki.

Consequently, the production house Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision approached Katrina Kaif for the role.

Katrina and Akshay, who are already one of the hottest jodis in Bollywood, will be working together for the fifth time.

Apart from Katrina, Sunil Shetty has also been signed for the film.

‘Blue’ is likely to go on the floors in the second half of 2008. The film is rumored to have a whopping budget of Rs. 100 crore. The movie will be directed by a foreign ad filmmaker named Tony.

Akshay Kumar: Bollywood Film Heyy Babyy

Funny man Sajid Khan has been spoofing films regularly on television, but when it was his turn, he wasn't able to skip the cliches of Hindi films. Sajid made a career out of laughing aloud at DVD adaptations of popular Hollywood cinema, but when he made a film he did just that - Indianise and adapt Hollywood winner Three Men And A Baby!
The story is predictable to the end. Arush (Akshay), Al(Fardeen) and Tanmay(Riteish) are forced to take into their custody a baby left at their door-step saying, "Look after your baby, you @#$!" From baby food, soiled nappies flying about the place and a bawling infant, Sajid infuses bawdy humour with scenes where Arush goes to pick up baby-food and seeks instructions from a young mother who cautions him to boil the nipple before feeding the baby and Arush appears all bewildered as he massages his nipples!

Akshay Kumar delivers his latest box-office baby

In addition to the three Khans – Shah Rukh, Salman, Aamir – Akshay Kumar is perhaps the only other male Bollywood star to have a huge overseas box office following. His last release, Namastey London, made it to the UK Top 10 and his latest, Heyy Babyy, looks set to do the same. This Three Men and a Baby homage is released globally this Friday. The former Casanova actor, more famous in the UK for being Shilpa Shetty’s alleged cheating boyfriend, is now a respectable married man. How did he feel about joining the Khan oligopoly? “I don’t know about that. We are a huge big family. I am just lucky, maybe,” Kumar diplomatically stated.
