Aishwarya Rai denies playing Jhansi Ki Rani



The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan denies playing the role of Jhansi in Ketan Mehta ’s ‘Jhansi Ki Rani’.

A report says that Ash has walked out of the movie because she is tired of playing mythological characters.

But Ash says she had never signed any such project and the media has mistaken her playing the role of Jhansi as she was practicing horse riding and sword fighting for Jodhaa Akbar and not for Jhansi Ki Rani.

Ash is said to be furious over the false reports by the media and asks them to stop giving wrong information.

She clarifies that Ketan Mehta discussed with her about the film two years back but there has been no any verbal or written commitment.

Ash even declares that she is not at all keen in doing the film and looking forward to Sarkar Raj , 'Taj Mahal' and her Hollywood project 'Pink Panther 2'.

Pink Panther 2: Bollywood's Ash to star

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is to star alongside Hollywood actor Steve Martin in the upcoming sequel to the 2006 movie "The Pink Panther", a newspaper reported on Friday.

The Hindustan Times said the former Miss World will play a detective in the new film about the clumsy French policeman Inspector Clouseau, played by Martin. The sequel will also star Andy Garcia and John Cleese, it said.

'Pink Panther 2' casting has now become the hotly debated issue in Bollywood. Contrary to latest media reports, Aishwarya’s international agent Simone Sheffield says, "Ms Rai was the first and only choice to play Sophie in the Hollywood film Pink Panther 2."

The casting director Ilene Starger too endorses this fact by saying, "We did not offer the role to anyone other than Aishwarya. Period. Ash was the actress I envisioned when I read the script. Her intelligence, beauty and sophistication are just what the role requires. She fits in wonderfully with our fantastic ensemble cast, and all of us are thrilled to work with her.”

'Ash was offered Pink Panther 2'

Refuting rumours about other Bollywood actors being offered roles in Pink Panther 2 , its casting director Ilene Starger said they only considered Aishwarya Bachchan for the film.

"We did not offer the role to anyone other than Aishwarya! Aishwarya was, when I first read the script, the actress I envisioned for the role," Starger told IANS from Los Angeles in an e-mail interview.
