Nayan races ahead!


Nayanthara has pulled off a coup of sorts. The' ultimate' star Ajit after the super success of Billa is going to do back-to-back film with the glam queen of Kollywood!

Yes, after weeks of dithering and hunting around for a heroine which took him to Katrina Kaif and Ileana, Raju Sundaram the director has finally settled for the vivacious southie hottie. A spokesperson of Ayngaran International, the producers confirmed the new development, and said that Nayanthara has been signed and paid an advance to do the film.

Ajit and Nayanthara as a team clicked with the audiences in Billa, and also became a hot pair with the distributors. In Raju Sundaram's new film they come as a romantic pair for the first time, and their screen chemistry is sure to work big at the box-office.

Nayanthara has gone out of her way to accommodate this Ajit film, as she has given one month bulk dates for it from April. Meanwhile the actress who is taking break in Dubai, where her brother lives, will be joining the shoot of Kuselan in Hyderabad, in which she is paired with superstar Rajinikanth.

Nayan and her black beauty!




It was a dream comes true for Nayanthara, when she drove her brand new black BMW- X 5, the legendary German automaker's first entry into the luxury SUV segment!

Last month, the BMW-X5 was delivered at her home in Thiruvalla, Kerala after placing an order for it with BMW's Mumbai dealer when she was shooting for a Telugu film there. It took nearly two months for the dealer to deliver it as X5 is produced at BMW's American plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

She loves catching up with news of all the latest on cars from the auto magazines and from Internet. In fact, when she gave an interview to sify.com earlier she had confessed: “My only obsession in life are cars, mobiles and watches”.

She wanted to get the registration number 9 (sounds like Nayan), but did not get it and has settled for another fancy number. She has not driven much in Kerala's narrow roads full of pot holes, and is waiting to bring it to Chennai and zip on the ECR!

Her dream car was the BMW, ever since she saw Malayalam superstar Mammootty driving it during the shoot in one of her early Malayalam films. And when she came to Kochi for the shooting of Twenty: 20 in which she does a special appearance, her Black Beauty was the centre of attraction among public and other stars. The others with BMW- X 5, are our Ilayathalapathy Vijay and Dhanush.

India's leading weekly newsmagazine ' India Today' in its latest issue dated February 4, has named south Indian actresses Asin and Nayanthara as the two out of the five heroines to watch out for in 2008!

India Today had conducted an exclusive "Mood of the nation poll", conducted by AC Nielsen-ORG MARG in 19 states. According to the poll- "Who will be the No. 1 heroine this year? (2008)", Aishwarya Rai scored the highest with 20 percent, Kajol came second with 5 percent, and third position was tied between –Rani Mukherjee, Asin and Nayanthara with 4 percent each!

The poll does not mention other top Bollywood contenders like Deepika Padukone, Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra and others. Anyway it is honour for these Malayalee girls to be featured among the top heroines in the country.

It is a short in the arm for south regional films as now one of the most reputed magazines in the country has given due recognition to their actresses. Hats off to Asin and Nayan- you have done us proud!
