Amrita is waiting for someone special

Amrita is waiting for someone special

When Amrita Rao changed her girl-next-door image in her recent film opposite newcomer Nikhil Dwivedi, many were wondering why she did so.Click here to get the large

Is it because she wanted to join the league of ‘hot’ performers like Mallika Sherawat who prefer to play nothing apart from bold characters that sizzle on the big screen? But, once one speaks to her, one immediately realises that Amrita would not like to tread that route ever. “Bipasha and other actors might be comfortable doing such roles, but I’m not at all interested in it. I don’t want to change my image,” she says matter-of-factly. Amrita is one of the relatively new actors who has made an impact without a godfather or, for that matter, a godmother.Click here to get large

In fact, Vivah, which was a Rajshri offering, surprised many by becoming one of the biggest hits of last year. So, it is easy to understand why she affirms that her “filmy career has been satisfying till now”. The cute and petite actor adds, “I was very fortunate to get such roles despite having no formal training in acting.”Click here to get lage

And, what about her co-star Shahid Kapur? “Shahid Kapur and I share a good chemistry on screen. We have this amazing comfort level, and he’s a good friend. Moreover, the audiences also like our pair,” she smiles. In the same breath, she adds, “I’m still waiting for that someone special.”click here to view large

Apart from Victory and Shortcut, Amrita will be seen soon in Shyam Benegal’s next venture Mahadev, which is a romantic comedy. “I always wanted to work with Shyam Benegal. It’s a dream come true,” she says, sounding justifiably contented.click here to get large

As of today, Amrita has a variety of roles to look forward to. Let’s hope she continues to make a mark, and not because she makes the audiences go wild with an item number that leaves nothing to the imagination.
