Bollywood happenings

Bollywood happenings

Ajay Devgan held a trial of Rohit Shetty’s Sunday at Cinemax, Versova, on Thursday evening. The film stars him along with Ayesha Takia, Arshad Warsi and Irrfan Khan.

Present at the screening was the usually reclusive Kajol besides tinsel town folk and several of Devgan’s friends.

Signing issue

As reported ‘Anil Kapoor refuses to return signing amount’ (HitList, January 24), one of the producers, Vijay Galani, who allegedly had a non-payment issue with Anil called us to say, “The issue which I had with Anil has been solved amicably.

I have no problems with Anil Kapoor anymore. We have sorted things out.” Well finally, is all that we can say.

Bed of thorns

Rosa Catalano was to star in Popcorn Entertainment’s Loot directed by newbie Rajnish Thakur as one of the lead roles but Sunil Shetty tells us, “It’s true that Rosa was being considered for Loot but now she’s not doing it.

You will have to ask the director what’s happening on that front. In fact, none of the girls have been finalised. Loot will be a kickass action comedy with lots of free running action.” Nothing seems to work out for the rosy babe…

MAMI returns with a contest

The 10th anniversary of the Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) film festival is going to be held from March 6-13 and will showcase 100 films from 40 countries.

Sanju sings for Sunil

Sanjay Dutt has done it again — sung another song for good friend Sunil Shetty for his next film EMI. Huzeifa Lakdawala, Popcorn Entertainment’s COO tells, “Sanju’s lent his voice to a romantic number in EMI.

He plays the lovable Sattarbhai in the film, a recovery agent. Like people have grown to love Munnabhai, people will fall in love with Sattarbhai too.

While rehearsing for the song he was keen on it doing it correctly. Sanju loves the music of EMI.” Arjun Rampal, Malaika Arora, Ashish Choudhury, Neha Oberoi and Pushkar Jog are also part of the movie directed by debutant Saurabh Kabra.

SRK goes Deutsche

The German translation of Anupama Chopra’s King of Bollywood: Shah Rukh Khan and the Seductive World of Indian Cinema will be released on January 30. The book is being published by Rapid Eye Movies — the main distributor of Bollywood films in Germany.

This is their first publishing venture. King of Bollywood has also been translated into Hindi and Marathi. The Malayalam and Indonesian language translations are slated to hit stores later this year.

Anupama who has been invited to speak about the book and Bollywood at film schools in the US says, “Germans love Bollywood and especially Shah Rukh Khan.” Well, what’s not to love?

Watch out

The entire Akhtar-Azmi khandaan turned up at the launch of a branded watch, endorsed by Farhan Akhtar. The director turned actor who is shooting for Rock On now sports a new hairdo.

There was hairstylist wife Adhuna, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Tanvi Azmi besides Arjun Rampal and Karan Johar. Just a thought… shouldn’t having a hairstylist wife guarantee good hair days for Farhan?
